Its like they used camera flares to cover up the lead actors face because it's wrong. You know if they would have went with the christian bale cat commercial would have been cut way different.
Why didn't they just hire Matt Damon to play Jobs and Jack Nicolson to play Woz? They obviously don't care about getting actors who look remotely like the person they're playing.
If given the choice between a shite actor who looks exactly like jobs and a good to great one who gets the mannerisms but doesn't look exact I'd go for the latter every time.
I mean whose ever seen a napolean who looks exact?
I think the problem is in trying to reproduce an incredibly iconic person who was front and center too soon after he's gone. You won't get a lot of pushback or disbelief from an audience if an actor doesn't look exactly like Henry Ford in a movie about his life, because most people don't have Ford's visage burned into their retinas. It's not going to work so well with Jobs. Maybe 20 or 30 years from now. But too soon to not get the appearance, as well as the mannerisms and vocals, spot on.
Steve: What do think Bill, does he look anything like me?
Bill: Not really but I like how he looks... handsome guy.
I think Fassbender's Irish accent is going to be painful to listen to considering how much dialog this movie has given to Steve's part. It's best to judge on the final thing of course and it looks like it's coming out this year on October 9th but this trailer didn't make me more inclined to watch it.
This thread gives lie to the idea of an "intersection of technology and liberal arts."
Seems most of the people commenting think that a biography is nothing more than hiring a cheap Las Vegas impersonator.
Guys, if all this is is a cheap attempt to make you feel like that's really Steve on the screen then it fails.
If it says something bigger about technology or power or failure or even tremendous dialog (which is why this is a Sorkin picture), then it will have suceeded.
It's going to be hard to watch and believe in it when he looks nothing like Jobs. When making an biographic film, that really helps! They didn't have Bruce Willis playing Lincoln...

How about recasting Cate Blanchett as John Sculley? She's a good actor...
I had a similar reaction. I will go see this because the source material (the man, not the book) greatly interests me, but I expect this to be one of those movies that tries to be Oscar worthy, but gets about a 60-70% on Rotten Tomatoes. Basically, good, not great. I think with a better book as the source material, it really could have taken off, but oh well.

Michael Fassbender is one of the best actors of his generation. Period.
I am very impressed by those of you are able to go meh/bleh (or "great!") after 60 seconds. Not.
I'm just channeling my inner Jobs. " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />
The lead actor was to read a 200-page "Steve Jobs" script, of which 80% are Steve Job's lines. Only Fassbender took the challenge.
Leonardo di Caprio and Christian Bale could NOT handle the script when they saw it: a 200-page Aaron Sorkin script with mostly Steve Jobs lines...
I love that in not a single one of these is Steve Jobs visibly PISSED OFF, he has a ton of self control and knows how to manage the situation.

Not sure about the blonde hair though.

I am teased.
but as curious why the other potential leads turned it down.
Most likely because of the gigantic budget cut.
