Some people (Reseller not really customers of iPhones) in Mainland or Hong Kong purchase a bulk of new iPhone every time when Apple has a new release. Then they resell those new iPhones to the people with much higher price. That's why iPhone in Hong Kong sold out is so easy.

Or suggesting that those were the ones in shortest supply..

Using this logic you would have concluded that the $15k Watch Edition was the most popular model because it had the longest lead times.

The rose gold color costs no more than the other colors, and I'm guessing Apple didn't short that color production - they likely produced more of it.

The fact that Watch Edition costs 10x-20x entry level models informs that production was incredibly low compared to the other two models.

Anodized rose gold looks like copper a bit which is a great look. I would love to see copper and white next year

It is so amazing how wrong these analyst are on Apple. They swore that once carriers dropped the subsidy that Apple would be forced to drop their prices and margins would take a hit. News flash.... Apple has enough cash to subsidize their own phones! Now who will make Apple do what? Checkmate!

I have to wait 2-3 weeks for my 6plus 128GB Gold unlocked. Unfortunately I slept in and forgot to pre-order early.

The mrs still clings on to her 5S :(

This is the third year in a row I have upgraded instead of my usual two-year cycle (1st gen, 3GS, 4S, 5S,6Plus,6SPlus).

Those camera upgrades keep dragging me back in for more..

I am not surprised that the phone is pretty much sold out.

Salmon has orange in it. This has none. So, it's not metalized salmon.

So, you'd be OK to carry it while your alive if everyone around you was blind, but no carrying pink phone while a Zombie ;-).

Seems your anti zombie position merits a bit of psychanalysis... :-).

This color is also being purchased to differentiate between models and in China the iPhone is a status symbol. Showing you have the latest model is part of that.

    Genius.
So every other year Apple is going to add a new color to the S lineup to distinguish it from the previous offering for fear they will lose sales to status seekers?

Never been married before? Or your girlfriend never wanted a ring? Rose gold, Platinum, Silver, Gold, etc., all become well-versed when you have one or the other in your life.

An apple geek's rumor forum;  Never been married before?   Shocked; shocked, I tell you!  <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

I canny get the apple website to allow me to order the iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone 6s only pops up. I want to join the new upgrade program.

According to the Sept 9 keynote, it will only be available in U.S. Apple Retail Stores. So, not for preorder.

It wouldn't be hard to do and it makes a lot of sense. This is just the inverse of what they did for the 5s cycle when they dropped the 5 and created the 5c at the lower price and offered that in 5 colors. Also note, that from Apple, Gold and Rose Gold are now only available on the 6s. The 6 and 5s are only available in Silver and Space Grey.

This feels like the smoothest product launch ever. The website didn't creak under the pressure and there seems to be more stock than usual.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm glad you articulated it.

I'm not much for gold, but the rose gold looks very good, in part because it does resemble copper a bit.
