It's obviously not journalism. It's attracting eyes for advertising impressions. As for all the "left/liberal" slander... Give it a rest. Just call it what it is: capitalism. If there's a hipster vibe to it, that has nothing to do with being liberal and everything to do with being obsessed with popularity, fads, and trends.

The Guardian's coverage of other news, such as political events and world news, is equally as trashy and fraudulent in many cases.

Boy, its lucky the world has Fox, to provide the balance in the world. They are possibly the only the bastions of balanced and non-sensationalised reporting. Everyone from the Left is a complete nutter whose only mission in life to turn the world in to a commie nightmare…..

…no really. Best hide under the bed, lest it happen.

If that's how the Guardian reports "news" that's enough for me to remove them from my Apple News.

    Further update …

as expected by both me and him, Jake321's comment has also vanished now, as have a number of comments from other people making similar points.

Readers are being censored for mentioning Mike Daisey's appalling track record when it comes to Apple, they are also being censored from pointing out that any negative comments have been deleted.

Their rules for posting mention you should not post defamatory remarks about the journalists.

That may indeed be in the Guardian's rules, but there are countless numbers of articles where readers make defamatory comments about the writers of those articles and those comments do not get moderated.  For some unexplained reason, pointing out the previous exploits of Mike Daisey is strictly verboten.

Almost makes you wonder if Mike Daisey himself is the moderator over there... ;)

Hey Apple Insider, how do you feel about one of your writers using an ad block plug-in? This writer clearly does from the screenshots.

And for everyone complaining about the Guardian, remember that they also regularly publishes Apple pieces by Stephen Fry. Fandroids they are not. Like any online media company, they love a bit of clickbait though.

The other APPL growth story is the production of trolls like Mike Daisey.

Regularly? Two articles in 4 years, last one over a year ago ... http://www.theguardian.com/profile/stephenfry. Just saying ...

Strangely, the article is no longer linked on the Guardian's Tech front page in either their UK or International editions, although it's still there in the US edition. Doesn't stop it from being #5 in the most-read tech top 10, though %u2026

The Guardian has done some amazing exposes and investigative journalism in the past, a lot of it far bolder and more hard-hitting than their US counterparts.

However, in the last year or so, the newspaper has become more and more of a rabid piece of progressive trash, peppered with cheap, sensational journalism and outright lies. As people have pointed out, they also censor reader comments that factually point out truth they don't like or can't process editorially. Their news items have lost all semblance of objectivity, and are little more than thinly-veiled editorials and op-eds.

It's too bad. I used to enjoy reading them, but no more. I go there less and less.

It's just unfortunate that the news media is becoming politically bifurcated in this fashion. And no wonder that millions are turning to blogs like these instead.

While having DED deconstruct the nonsense of Mike Daisey is a little like kicking a dead whale down the beach, it's still nice to see Daisey taken to task for his stream of lies and sly innuendo.

The move from print to online media has been ugly. The two most successful online British newspapers have been the Daily Mail and The Guardian. They have diametrically opposed political leanings but both have found success through printing sensationalist opinion pieces (not so different to DED's output!). Balanced, fact-based news stories have little chance of making people mad and going viral.

Total clickbait article.  The problem for Apple is that these types of "news" articles tend to get just enough play to effect their stock, if even temporarily, and often force a reply from the company, just to disprove the lies.

    DED'S article isn't that bad

Boy the moderators are working full time at The Guardian. Only took a couple posts before I received a message saying all my comments are flagged for "pre-moderation".

Took me 1 minute to create an account and less than 5 to see the stereotypes about The Guardian are true. Sent them a request to delete my account, it'll be interesting if they bother asking why.

Note that people are able to make critical, inaccurate  or offensive comments about Stephen Fry in that article and those comments remain visible, while any mention of Mike Daisey's previous efforts is promptly censored.

    Comments such as …

"Stephen, to write such an article you've obviously sold your soul to the big bad apple (or BBAA).. Apple launch parties.... Name dropping about your mate Jonny...."

    or

"The consistency of this closet "Luvie" is admirable he actually believes his self righteous ramblings are of importance, just another irritating fat guy full of his own self importance proven by this review of a recycled very poor product that is massively overpriced. They cost £3.50 to make."

    or even

"A loud and proud Apple fanboi doing a review of the iPhone?"

It's also worth noting that under the new regime at the Guardian, Stephen Fry doesn't appear to have written about Apple in the Guardian since Sept 2014.

There's no excuse for publishing this but...

...with 85% of UK newspaper ran by nasty, rightwing, scaremongering Mr Murdoch, the Guardian is, in reality, a welcome read.

But of course if you're a racist or homophobe, you have a lot of choice in the UK
