you mean there are authors besides vonegut? must be his pseudonyms

funny you say that, my friend(HUGE tom robbins fan, introduced me to robbins) just picked up cats cradle...Iasked him if it was good...he said "yea...its really good, reminds me of tom robbins"
LOL, you sound like a right winger--that's just the sort of reaction I would expect Robbins' novels to elicit from a republican.

Better not tell the ACLU--they might revoke my membership.
I don't know if anyone has noticed yet, but that guy who had the page up with pictures and video of that supposed quad CPU machine running OS X has updated his page. It now says:
I think the video is real folks!! Quad CPU PowerMacs coming. or could it be one of those experimental prototypes that never actually sees the light of day
1) For those of you who have DP machines, playing a QT movie doesn't chew up that much CPU time. The bars will stay low. And, unless Apple's redone their smp to allow someone to specify a certain task to a certain CPU, one CPU would not shoot up in activity much beyond the other. CPU time is usually distributed evenly.
2) Magnification on the dock gets more of a repsonse from the CPU bar than playing a quicktime movie. The CPU bars in that movie didn't jump at all when the cursor hovered over the dock.
How much CPU a movie uses when it is played back depends largely on what codec was used to encode it. Also keep in mind that Snapz will be using some CPU to do the actual movie recording (and Snapz has a few threads).
As for the movie, I can say this -- it was definitely recorded with Snapz Pro X. I can see the telltale signs of Snapz's video recording.
Whether it was retouched after the fact or was recorded using a faked/hacked CPU monitor, well, I'll leave you to speculate on that...

I have seen very similar behaviour on my Dual 450.

Tom Robbins is a smug, self-aggrandizing, ahistorical adolescent hippie twat. Just thought I'd contribute to your discussion.

First impressions, not up to Douglas Adams' standard but I'll keep going.
Douglas was so... English

Video of G5 chip, Apple System Profiler,
and VIDEO of new case design coming soon!
This thing will be announced in July and start
shipping in September.

Yea, the links will be up the second he finishes rendering the video.

The video is real video.
But what are you seeing?
Quad G4?
Quad 604?
G5 800?
Gigawire Cluster...???
But then again I'm not sure that the CPU Monitor is ready to view quad processor use.
