    Impressions time.

First of all, the machine came with Mac OS X 10.2.1 and the old 'iLife' apps.

So it took a while to download but I updated the machine to the latest OS and with the newest versions of the iApps (except iDVD which is coming soon).

The machine is unbelievably fast. I didn't know Mac OS X could be this fast coming from my G3/500 with 8 MB VRAM.

Literally everything feels much faster and the laptop is great to look at too.

Since I sit with the computer on my lap most of the time, the fan has gone on quite a few times. It's not very loud, though, and I hear that the machine has a second fan (which hasn't come on yet).

It looks like the screen has one 'stuck' pixel. It doesn't really bother me but I might try and massage it out later.

I want to try out some games but my brother has swiped them all and taken them to college with his DP G4/500. I really wanted to try out Warcraft 3 which ran on my G3/500 but wasn't really playable.

I haven't burned a DVD yet but I'm planning on making one shortly with some data from my old HD. It's my first internal CD-RW and DVD-R drive so I'm anxious to see how things work out. Actually, I'm going to try burning a CD after I finish this post.

I booted into Mac OS 9 to see what it was like and it was also very fast. Even though it's 'outdated', I still like the fact that I have the option of booting back into OS 9 if I want or need to.

Apple didn't provide any way for me to send back my old PowerBook G3 but they say they are sending me a shipping label (but no box). Luckily, I saved the last box the machine was shipped back in so I'll send it back in that for the last time.

The machine also came with an Airport card built in so I haven't had an excuse to open the machine up yet but I'm sure I'll take a look soon enough.
