The exact same thing happened in resident evil.. scared the bejezus outta me. Perhaps this inspired them??

Doom 3 looks nice, but I'd really like Half-Life 2 to be ported over.

It looks just as good, if not better than Doom 3 and is scalable enough to run on a Wintel 700Mhz box and a TNT2 GPU. And it will be released Sept. 30th 2003. That's right folks. It's coming this year. And I want it. Valve has been very quiet about the Multiplayer. Just imagine if Team Fortress 2 became the MP portion of Half-Life!

Well HL2 looks nice but I wouldn't compare it to DoomIII.

HL2 is basically the current technology with higher-res textures and more polys.

Doesn't have DoomIII's bump-mapping and it's lighting system appears to be no more advanced than Q3's.

Don't get me wrong, it looks great, and the fact that it's very scalable and has a lot more multi-player potential make it look very desirable.

But to compare it to DoomIII's graphics is stretching it a bit.

True, but we also have to remember that the original HL was based on the Quake engine.

Again, you are correct. However, it's not just eye-popping visuals which make for a great game. Remember Quake 3? Great eye-candy, little in the way of good gameplay when compared to comptemporary titles (i.e. UT.)

Now, that's a pretty loaded statement. Most would argue the other way (though perhaps more so for mods like CPMA, 3Wave, or RA than PVQ3). However, it's certainly true that gameplay is what counts. I still play quake 1 now and again; it's just fun!

I'll admit that statement is (obviously) my own personal opinion.

However, Quake 3 was nothing groundbreaking. Simple deathmatch/team deathmatch/CTF etc, etc. It had all been done before. Quake 3 provided a beautiful presentation platform for very stale gaming modes. Don't get me wrong, I love playing Quake 3 and Team Arena with friends at LANs, but my own personal preference is UT due to the innovative nature of the gameplay. When UT was released, I found that the MP modes of play, specifically Domination and Assault were a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale genre of MP FPS. Again, this is all my own personal opinion. I own both Q3 and UT and play them a lot, epecially Q3 more so, since it has better X support than UT. To each his own.

This is why I said not so much PVQ3 but mods of it... I find regular q3 boring. It's simply got a very flexible architecture that allowed for mods unmatched elsewhere in gameplay quality.

You have a valid point, however Unreal also has a diverse and dedicated mod community. Tactical-ops, Strike Force, and Infiltration are just a few examples. I guess in the end it just comes down to which one you like better.

why does it have to be a fake?

We know that there is a build of it for the mac...can we see screenshots of the application get-info dialog box?

p.s. I'm sure that there is a way to change the App Name Font in Mac OS X, it's also a build => bugs.

    Is it fake?

I leave it for you to decide.

    "Go go Strikeforce!"

"Ahh, the damn terrs got us..."

I was actually playing SF as a terrorist when the planes hit the twin towers. First heard of it through the SF chat, from someone who had CNN on... Didn't believe him at first.

    Kinda ironic...

Could be true...but the screenshot was definitely faked.

Actually, the screenshot is the only real thing in it. I got it from planetunreal.com. You're right, though, it doesn't look like Unreal 2003 very much. Would you like it better if I replaced it ?

    I've heard that UT2k3 plays a bit like Quake3.

    Can anyone comment on this?

As in... they're both FPS's. Other than that, not very similar at all.

Not really. Plays pretty much identical to UT. Not that it's a bad thing. If you like UT you'll love UT2k3. It the same game w/better graphics, slightly tweaked physics, slightly tweaked weapons, and new game modes.

    Edit:

Ah, I see you didn't read the original post. He asked about

    Ut2k3

    vs

    Quake 3.

hey wyvern what are those 2 boob-like items in your top right corner?

Re: Q3 and UT2k3: Some friends of mine said the movement in UT2k3 felt very similar to the bobbing in Q3. The gothic architecture in that screenshot reminded me of Q3 as well.

Load monitors for my CPU's. Note that I ran Mathematica on computing a very large factorial to make them get very high, and then put that in the faked shot as well. I'm thorough.
