Yahoo has some news about M$ releasing a Mac Office upgrade. Maybe that's all this "special" announcement by Apple will be.

    <a href="http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=70&e=1&cid=70&u=/cn/20020603/tc_cn/930299"; target="_blank">Here's the story.</a>

If jobs were to retire what could we infer from the timing, i.e. right before MacWorld? Of course he could announce his retirement, effective September 1 or some such day, which would mean this MacWorld wouold be his last. Then we could assume he's going out with a blast. But if it was effective immediately, confidence would probably be in short supply. Whatever, this could explain all the Apple execs selling their shares, as they maybe assuming that they'd be leaving Apple too.

Apple will also use Tuesday to announce news of its own.

Christ, did you even read the article?</strong><hr></blockquote>

Yes, I did, but I read it a few days ago. I was just going of memory, and the headline. I guess I should have read it again. Jackass.

These tablets are so awesome that they even come with keyboards, so you can do more than poke at the display with a stylus. They have HDs, optical drives, and a full set of I/O ports. 5+ hr battery life.

Listen, a keyboardless laptop is something that Apple is NOT going to make in the near future. It is a nearly useless product that belongs in a Sharper Image catalog for rich twats.

    Well said, Junkyard Dawg.

I'm at Tekserve, NYC's new store and they're having a $100 instant rebate on all G4 Imacs all week. Anyplace else doing the same? If not, it may just be due to it being their grand openiing week, but why G4 Imacs, then. I guess we'll know tomorrow.

BTW, i'm using a Powerbook Ti that's hooked up to a 24" Cinema display. WOW!

Someone in this <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001760&p=2"; target="_blank">AppleInsider thread</a> says that Apple is going to start selling the eMacs at their retail stores.

There is no "event" (i.e. iPod, XServe). Apple has not sent out invites to the press to attend a meeting or unveiling at Cupertino. The word (only from Think Secret, by the way) is that Apple PR had set up some interviews for SJ with certain members of the press.

It is interesting that no one else has reported an "event". Wonder what Jobs plans to say in his interviews if that part of the story is true.

Hmm....I doubt the guy just dropped $3500 on a monitor to hook to his portable and can't remember the most basic spec.

    He's beta testing the next Apple Cinema Display HD. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Jesus, you people are too much. 24", 23', who cares-all I know is it's enormous! (Yeah and you're probably thinking of horses and elephants right now! Not that kind of enormous.) I wish I had the $3500 to make it mine, though. Then I imagine I would get the size correct.

    Perfect opinion!

At my work, we've got stock options coming in two weeks. I was a teaching assistant in finance at a big ten school. I am utterly amazed at how many people DON'T share you're opinion about diversifying their portfolio. First thing I do is sell and diversify. It's the only logical/smart thing to do. Especially since my company is at/near their 52-week/all-time high, too.

As I said in the other post regarding this:

[quote]I am not claiming to be a know it all, though I have worked at one of the Apple Stores in the Midwest, a store that was very close with Ron Johnson (Senior Vice President of Apple Retail). He would let us know a few tidbits here and there. One of them is that they want to implement education pricing in the retail stores as they are loosing major sales to educators and students this way. Perhaps Steve Jobs will announce this, and this would be considered PR HUGE NEWS material... <hr></blockquote>

especially with existing IRS rules (unles they been changed) where the options count as cash to you (even if the stock price drops and their worth less or worthless)

They already do this. All you have to do is show your id and they'll give you the ed store price. unknown_source indeed.
