You would have thought there would be room in there for a nice big GPU...

    One can only hope.

The case is much bigger than the 17" version which leads me to believe there might be room for another G5 at a later date.

Would someone who's lucky enough to own one take a picture and post it?

I looked inside my 20" iMac last night when I upgraded to 2GB RAM. Guess I shoulda taken a picture but I didn't. Sorry about that. Before you ask, no, I'm not about to pop it open again. Not that it's difficult or anything, I just don't want to mess up the screen.

    could someone take a pic?

I've superimposed the 17" motherboard on the 20" and the gap is plenty big enough for another G5.

There is no way apple will make an iMac dual because... its an iMac. UNLESS the powermacs all go QUAD!!

So with all this talk about shipping date and such, does that mean I can't just drive to my local apple store today and pick up a 17in iMac?

Give them a call first. The Apple store near my house has had stock of 17" iMacs for awhile, it's been the 20" iMac that's been scarce.

About a week after they were launched, my sister ordered the middle model iMac from a local Mac shop near her university... she just got it yesterday.

Just as i thought - there's loads of room for an extra processor...

or how about a bigger GFX card.

I stopped by the Apple store, they can't install the internal Bluetooth adapters there so if I get it I am going to have to order it.

Where exactly is that option at? and why wouldn't they have it set to fastest from the factory?

I've got a question about Bluetooth and the new iMacs. BT is not one of the user-upgradeable features, does this mean you have to get it serviced if you want to add bluetooth later? Also, if you get the wireless bundle (BT, Keyboard and mouse) but you want to add a wired mouse to the wireless keyboard, will that still work? What is the battery life on the mice and keyboards typically? It could get annoying if you have to replace the batteries every two or three months?

The internal bluetooth module is only available as a built-to-order option as it is soldered on the mother board and can not be added at a later date. you would have to buy an external adapter that would stick out the back. You can always add any wired usb keyboard or mouse regardless of whether you have bluetooth installed or not.

The claimed battery life on the apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse is a few months and i have heard testimony this is accurate for moderate use (not all day, every day usage). This is actually industry leading for battery life. Competing bluetooth products that i have researched have 1/2 or less of the battery life claimed. Go to Costco and put down for a big batch of AA's and stick them in your freezer. That way you wont be paying 7$ for 2AA's at 2AM from a 7/11

My iMac 1.6w/Bluetooth package is sitting in Memphis (hey baby) Tennessee right now... Hopefully, I will get it by monday.

    cheers all

Ordered 20" Imac from my little local Apple dealer yesterday. Options ordered are: 250 GB HD, Bluetooth with wireless keyboard and mouse, final cut pro, 1 gig of RAM, Office mac 2004 and an AIO Epson printer, fax, scanner, copier & coffeemaker. Should see it in 4 weeks...maybe. I could have ordered it from one of the big online places and got a bunch of "free" stuff. But I feel it's important to support your local businesses. Also they will be there for me if I have problems.
