It's not a slur, and neither is gosh, jeez or any other god/jesus-derived interjection that considered normal, acceptable, non-vulgar language to 99%+ of english speakers. \

It is a slur, in fact the Ten Commandments command against taking God's name in vain. If that doesn't describe a slur, nothing does.

Of course, all expletives show the lack of intelligence of the "speaker."

    So there. nya nya nya

I don't remember adherence to the 10 commandments being a precondition for posting to appleinsider. Come to think of it, I bet some of us do work on sundays, too. Uh, oh.

It isn't a slur if one does not share the same belief system.

...and you don't see any problems implying that your brother has a "lack of intelligence" while teaching him of God?

Do you feel that God likes to be represented by people who disrespects his creations, your brothers and sisters?

If you talk of love and respect but display the opposite, what are you to God?

God loves you, and if you love him too, then become an example of his love so others can see what our God is truely like. Is it any wonder that people reject God when his selfproclaimed representatives speak of love but show none, speak of respect but show none?

    And incidently, I love you.

    Sincerely

Rolo, thinkSecret and UBS analysts have just come out with iBook 13" wide and MediaCenter and iPhone predictions for "by the end of march". not sure what you mean with the "good for Q2 but even better for Q3".

Rolo, just make the call, state what your prediction is, and we'll take it as that. Your speculation. Just say what your prediction is, with the disclaimer: "take it as you will", no need to say whether its true or not.

People get upset when you tell them "this is gonna be true". But a lot of us just post our predictions, without having to say whether its accurate or not.

You can do that, and I think it will be fine. Just say "this is my prediction for products to be announced before the end of March... etc. etc.... Disclaimer: take it as you will.."

hmm... i understand and know for sure that there is out there and in us a deep Peace, deep Love, and deep Joy. But if there is a God, why would he let us suffer? Either there is no God as such, or my interpretation of God is wrong, or what i see as suffering is not really suffering (it sure hurts all the same though..!)

Your asking the big questions. Here's the thing, have you tried looking for *salvation' from all that? Just look for salvation. It says look and you shall find. It doesn't say for how long or where, it just says look!

We ask why he does not just come a end all the pain, but how could he, if you have not yet choosen to look for a way out, without overriding your free will? If we like free will, why do we at the same time want it to be overridden? Do you see the point I'm making? If you only knew how all those who has lost their way keeps Him up at night.

I'll ask you again... have you tried.....

(I do sincerely appologize to the moderators for bring up such a blaspheme, as to suggest that there are other Gods than Steve Jobs, we will surely all rot in a PC hell for this one -- aahhh I'm just kidding, but I do appologize for going off topic, on the other hand, unlike Mac's we are a much more complicated piece of hardware, and do require more to function that the occasional software update. I hope there is room for a little talk about the greater tings in life)

    Zab,

A human, secular statement (that those who use expletives are showing ignorance) is NOT necessarily linked to a statement of religious doctrine, even if they are typed into the same text box.

I automatically discount most of what a person says, period.

If they curse a lot, they are not even worth my time.

That's got nothing to do with the validity of a religion. I never said I was religious. That's just me not having a lot of time to waste on people.

The Ten Commandments does forbid the taking of the Lord's name in vain.

Whether one believes or not does not change the truth. If there is a Christian God, choosing to not believe does not nullify that truth. Don't believe in gravity? It still pulls you. Don't believe in the equivalence of God and gravity? Again the truth does not have any relationship to one's belief.

As for why does God let there be suffering: ask a local priest, pastor, or preacher. There is an answer.

Now, as for the religion that is Apple: I look for a thin small-form tablet now that the patents have come out. The tablet will use your iPod for storage, perhaps even boot from it. That's my opinion.

Actually "not taking the Lord's name in vain" most likely has to do with breaking an oath that was forged on the name of God. One online source for this.

Let's just not continue THAT discussion, period. Mutual respect is a GOOD thing.

As for disinformation, is there any more of it out there from Apple or has this thread died a natural death?

the fact is, people, rolo posted a rumor that he thought had some validity to it. its not his fault it turned out to be wrong. but by nature of what rumors are that was possible in the first place. stop being such babies when something we would like to be true turns out not to be. that is half the fun of these sites. i for one thought the discussion was useful and provocative. big F*(&ing deal if it wasnt true. did you go out and mortgage your house to buy apple stock based on this rumor? then that was your idiotic fault. let rumors be rumors. there's a difference between hearing something (which turns out to be false) and posting it and just pulling something out of your ass and saying its fact. rolo did the former. if you cant deal with the possibility that a rumor might be wrong then go to macworld.com and read that . its called news. fact only.

oh, but then it wouldnt really be a rumor site now would it.

    sheesh.

I could not agree more. Watching the reaction to Rolo's posts has been similar to watching a classroom full of elementary school kids without a teacher for a couple of hours, only they would know how far to believe a rumor. Whether true or not, it was a great ride. I still HOPE that it is true, which is the point of a thread under FUTURE HARDWARE, which could only be rumors and speculation.

Yep. And your reaction to his BS has been similar to watching a classrom of kids from the short bus being told that Santa Claus was going to be their new substitute teacher.

But as the class subject is Fantasy, where's the problem in hoping for Santa?

It's Future Hardware, not Future Sh*t-Made-Up, or Future Fantasy.

well actually isn't it really RUMORS about future hardware to be exact? So you might say:" well yeah, but RUMORS don't mean it's made up". Well no, but it doesn't exactly mean it's the truth either, does it? \

There is a difference between deliberately made up stuff, and passing on something you think is for real, but let US be real for a second....how are we EVER really gonna know the difference?

Well, there were those here that did see through it. Why are they being ridiculed when the dupe(?) gets defended? And has been mentioned a few dozen times by now, it's not the initial what but how the delivery went. And blaming it on disinformation???

The topic really needs to be allowed to shrivel up and go away now though. There really isn't anything left to take away from the whole HDTV rumor scenario. There are those that will beilive and those that won't. No amount of arguing now is going to change any minds.
