No, because (well, according to Intel's website at least) there simply is no 1.5GHz P3 Xeon.
Actually, unless their website is wrong, the P3 Xeon only reached 1GHz, and the fastest P3 core was the server tualatin at 1.4GHz.
Everything beyond that clock rate is based on the P4 core.

People ! I love Apple, and OS X is the best thing since sliced bread - It really is 10000000 times better then any other OS out there - don't misunderstand me please, but lets face it Apple have some serious Hardware problems on their hands here !
I am amazed by you guys, here I go posting a simple proof of how far Apple is lagging behind and everyone ignores it <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
That PC I custom built there has much faster dual AMDs - faster bus, much better graphix (top of the range Nvidia Ti), a SuperDrive and twice as much RAM for almost $1500 less ........

You could also go to eBay and find an old Apple, or get one used somewhere else, or whatever. I think the idea is to compare brand name computers because the people building their own obviously aren't looking to get a Mac.
Why not compare the edu price? The DVD-R drive dual 1.25 is only around $3100 USD if you don't add RAM. If you're smart enough to understand what a custom dual Athlon is, you're smart enough to at least buy third party ram.

The problems I see are:
first comparing a dual proc to single proc
dual channel ecc rdram vs the choked DDR333
the quadro isn't comparable to the radeon9000 and costs 350 more according to pricewatch
the 4hour response warranty to apples onsite if within 50 miles
Right now, Dell is a poor competitor for dual processor workstations because they're 'intel only' and the p4 isn't smp capable, so they have a few dual p3 servers and a few dual p4 xeons. Even a dual athlon from ALIENWARE is within $100 of that dell
This discussion is fvcking pointless! It has nothing to with a PowerMac vs. a D3ll. It could, but if it were that easy, and the d3ll was that much cheaper I would own one. The difference is in the operating system.
One is so superior to the other that the premium that we pay on the hardware that you see does not exist to us for we are blinded by the excelence of the Macintosh OS.

i don't know exactly the state of xeon p3. if the top line is 1ghz, then do a comparision between a dual p3 xeon with dual 1 ghz g4.
