  • Apple makes first change to Pixelmator Pro with a new splash screen

Is there word on how this purchase by Apple affects those of us who previously purchased Pixelmator(Pro?)?
Those that bought Pixelmator own the software. We don't pay a subscription so there's nothing to really worry about where money is concerned. At least not yet. I assume you/we could simply not upgrade Pixelmator Pro if we don't want to. It will still work.

As for future upgrades to Apple Pixelmator, our only hope is that Apple will continue to grow this app instead of killing it. Yes, it might change its name or be incorporated into a Photos Pro app but until Apple actually changes something other than the splash screen, there's no real reason to worry about anything. Just continue to use Pixelmator, the best photo app on the App Store (sorry Adobe, you're crazy expensive subscription model is not worth it).

  • Car makers reject CarPlay Ultra as an Apple overreach

Wait a minute!!! Car manufacturers are saying Apple isn't allowed to make use of a vehicle's infotainment system yet Apple is being sued for trying to not allow apps on the iPhone and iPad, especially without paying for them. Apple has been losing in these lawsuits. Time for Apple to sue car manufacturers, which would be fair. If car manufacturers refuse, Apple should be able to use this against app manufacturers. I can't wait to see what the EU has to say about this.

  • Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China

Of course the only apps that are allowed on this phone will be sponsored by and for trump. It will contain all sorts of malware and "specialized" software that will track everything the user goes to, every text, every phone call, the complete contents of your Contacts/Mail list, embedded government software that tracks your every step, access to a camera system that identifies everyone around you and of course, allows every user to contact anyone in Russia, Iran, North Korea and every other dictatorship while sending all your information to these countries. Sounds like a great, secure phone an American would want to use. Perfect for the trump government so they don't have to worry about using Signal.

  • A19 chip could match Qualcomm's best, but Apple may lean toward power savings instead

All this means is that any phone using the Snapdragon chip will have carry a backpack full of batteries just to say they have a better CPU than the A19. They'll also have to wear protective gloves so their hands aren't burned from all the heat. Any computer company can build a super fast CPU or complete system but it's always at the threat of burning itself up. We don't need the equivalent of a 200mph car, we simply need something that works well for as long as possible. I don't want an iPhone that needs to be re-charged every hour just to be technically the fastest.

  • Apple Watch could gain cameras for Visual Intelligence

    I agree! Theresloth77 said:
I've had an Apple watch since Series 5.

If they added a camera, they would lose me as a customer for basic privacy reasons.

    I hope they dont.
There are already way too many surveillance cameras everywhere you go. We don't need a camera on every watch. In many companies, especially government installations, it's illegal to carry a camera so phones have to be disabled or shut down when in sensitive areas. Having a camera in my Apple watch means I'd also have to remove my watch. Technology is getting to the crazy point where everyone is being recorded so no privacy at all.

  • Apple's next-generation 'CarPlay Ultra' is finally here

I doubt CarPlay Ultra will be available on any car other than very expensive ones in the next 10 years. EVs might take a chance with these but all the current ones already have invested tons of money on their own digital dashboard, which is what CarPlay Ultra is. Tesla isn't going to use this and might be out of business because of insane management. GM and Ford might end up using China as their manufacturer and Chinese cars have already created their own digital system. I could see every car manufacturer continuing to use the simple, current Car Play. I might be wrong but I can't see anything happening with general vehicle manufacturers any time soon. They have to worry about tariffs and their ability to stay in business.

  • One of these three Apple executives will probably be Tim Cook's replacement

I want the new CEO to be tough as nails not a kiss-a** who will drop to their knees when trump, the EU, UK, and all the other governments who demand Apple open up our ecosystem, want free access to Apple. I want them to fight worthless court orders, being proactive by counter suing or simply not selling to those countries.

  • How to stop your LG or Samsung smart TV from tracking you

I have my Apple TV connected to a Sony Bravia, which is packed with garbage using some kind of an Android-based system for TV viewing just like the Samsung TVs. I updated its firmware once since buying it years ago although I now use a simple TV antenna to get local channels. Do these TVs have the ability to push information back through AppleTV and broadcast TV antennas? It wouldn't surprise me if that capability has been introduced through broadcast TV but it would really upset me if Apple installed a return data capability taking images of people watching TV along with everything that shows up on the TV from any input source.

  • Apple still effectively blocks rival browser engines on iOS despite EU order

I have DuckDuckGo on my iPhone and iPad so what's the problem? I also don't use google for any search engine because there are alternatives. Is this only an EU issue? If so, then the EU needs to talk to browser companies instead of bothering Apple.

  • Thunderbolt 3-equipped MacBook Pro can use external GPUs, but at a cost

You need to look at Bizon for a deliverable external GPU product for the new MacBook Pro (https://bizon-tech.com). The BizonBOX 2S is available now with the BizonBOX 3 coming in early 2017. Some of the latest NVIDIA GPUs aren't supported yet but you can get the NVIDIA GTX TITAN X, 12 GB, DVI, HDMI, 3 DP (3072 CUDA cores). Of course it will set you back $1500 but as you say these are for the adventurous.

Barefeats evaluated this box way back in July 2016,
http://barefeats.com/bizon_box.html. I'm sure they'll be testing the new version when it comes out. He mentioned the new version in October while evaluating the new MBP, http://barefeats.com/rmbp2016.html.
