  • Tile accuses Apple of antitrust behavior in letter to EU regulators

Tile just know their days are numbered and are shivering in their boots.
That's the wrong attitude. If Apple keeps coming out with services that competes with other 3rd party developers on their platform, those developers will start to not trust Apple and wonder when the day will come that Apple comes out with their competing service and drives them out of business. Or worse, creates disadvantages for these 3rd party developers that wouldn't apply to Apple. That does not foster innovation or trust on the platform that these developers want to use.

  • Apple shows MR headset to executives ahead of rumored June unveiling

Due to the recent mendacities of the establishment I will never buy one of these. I have removed wifi from my home and my kids are watching DVDs. I am strongly considering going back to a flip phone as well after having an iphone since the 3g.
No wifi? Are posting this via carrier pigeon?

  • Apple reportedly planning $1B database center and R&D facility in Vietnam

    macseeker said:
Yeah, Apple having centers around the world. Wonder how Cook likes his dog meat. He should think of the US first. I wonder what type of software (spy) traps will be in the apps developed from Vietnam. Not happy at the moment.
Why should Apple bring international profits back to the U.S. instead of keeping those profits in lower tax bracket countries where the profit was made? They make a lot of profit in the U.S. and they keep that money in the U.S. I'm glad you are not an Apple board member because you have no idea how companies stay in business (hint: it's called profit). As for Vietnam spy trap apps, Vietnam app developers can create spy trap apps now for the app store but they won't make it past the walled garden app checkers. Why would opening a data centre in Vietnam suddenly create a torrent of "Spy Trap Apps" in the app store? Please spend a little more than 1 second of time thinking before you type such nonsense.

If I'm a pro, using a "pro" device, why would I want to risk my livelihood with ill-informed repair people?  Which is what this article really highlights.
And you have the option to take it to Apple.

Go back to the car example - if FedEx gets its trucks from Ford do they and should they need to go back to a Ford dealer for every repair? Or is it conceivable (I know, this is way out there) that a non-Ford mechanic might be qualified to make a repair?
If Ford requires all maintenance from Ford, you have the choice not to buy their product. Same with Apple. What you want is to dictate to Apple how they should run their company. Apple is in business to make money, not coddle to your whims.

Did the external mass storage problems get solved? I remember the news item about it, but nothing saying it was resolved.
    It did.

I laughed that you actually took a screen shot of your article, added a big red arrow pointing to the answer instead of saying "How about you just read the article Bub". You have shown an ocean of patience Mike :)

  • Apple predicted to launch 16-inch MacBook Pro this week

You had me until you cited Forbes ... then I stopped reading. Seriously guys??

Anyway, will buy one when they’re announced, and not before!
I can guarantee you won't buy one before they're announced

  • New 15.5-inch MacBook Air rumored to arrive in early 2023

Give it a magsafe charging port and at least two thunderbolt 4 ports (one on each side). Can Apple release a computer with cutting edge wifi as well. Wifi 7 would be very nice. Even if it doesn't do all this, it will still sell very well from the slim chassis and larger screen.

  • M4 Mac mini may have a USB-C connectivity problem

I had this problem with a hard drive plugged into my Pluggable TS4 dock and one TS4 cable to my M4 Max MacBook Pro. The hard drive would randomly disconnect once in a while. I plugged the hard drive directly into my MacBook and the problem went away.

As a Canadian, I am struggling with the demission to buy a new Mac. I am not buying anything in the USA right now and also avoiding products with American parent companies.
As another Canadian, I would suggest do your best to avoid American products. You won't be able to do 100% but when you have choice, buy Canadian or from another country that respects our trade agreements. The "Maple Scan" app in the App Store is an excellent app that lets you know if a product is:

    1) Made in Canada (51% of the product is made in Canada)
    2) A Product of Canada (98% of the product is made in Canada)

It also gives you details on the company that produces it. A lot of people I know use that to buy Canadian or non-American products. For example, I used to buy Heinz Ketchup, now I buy French's Ketchup.

America deserves every bit of the dumpster fire it is creating on itself by voting in that orange POS. Canada, the E.U. and Asia can work and trade together like adults. We don't need the US. Elbows Up!
