As another Canadian, I would suggest do your best to avoid American products. You won't be able to do 100% but when you have choice, buy Canadian or from another country that respects our trade agreements. It also gives you details on the company that produces it. A lot of people I know use that to buy Canadian or non-American products. For example, I used to buy Heinz Ketchup, now I buy French's Ketchup.
