  • Apple execs explain why you should use Apple Maps over competitors

As a shareholder and customer I keep trying Apple Maps to compare them with Google Maps and it still comes up as not ready for prime time way too often. I wish it were otherwise, but it is simply not good for giving the best routing information.
As has been said by others, it is way better than at launch.

Would love to see Apple integrate real time and projected weather information so that we can route around or delay our arrival to miss severe weather and to consider road conditions when routing. I live in the south and sometimes a slightly different track can be the difference between driving on ice and rain or snow and nothing and the people down here are not good on slick roads. I work in a hospital and we are always open and I am on call regardless of the weather. It would also be nice on the road to avoid driving into an area with an active Tornado Warning or Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Years ago a co-worker lost a brand new car (totaled) by driving through a really nasty hail storm.

  • Apple Pencil Pro and new iPads are a warning shot at Wacom

It has been a season since I have seen Wacom mentioned and longer since I actively used one.
Not the illustrator of my circle, but I have a background in photography (pre digital) and do use a pen/stylus for touch up, etc.
I bought an espresso touch monitor that can be used with either the iPad (mirror only) or Mac ( 2nd screen or mirror). It supports pen input and it would be interesting to hear what  pro illustrators think of the pen when doing the work.

  • Apple's macOS Monterey causing problems with some USB-C hubs & docks

Using a Satechi hub right now that is a legacy from a MacBook Air and everything works fine from a Focal speaker set to a M-Audio keyboard to a Plugable HD unit, etc.

  • US DOJ attacks nearly every aspect of Apple's business in massive antitrust suit

This is Jonathan Kanter's work. Total Socialist.

Guess Biden should hire Hunter to apply his law degree as a consultant on Government Relations. Or maybe buy a few pictures to hang up at Tim's house.

Biden's mis-Administration is the most blatantly political since the Jackson administration.

The facts are quite simple- consumers are free to buy Windows, Android, Roku and whatever hardware they wish.
Every significant cloud service is easily available to any consumer.
Every significant productivity app is interoperable.
Same for Maps, TV, Music, Books and all the rest.

  • Apple TV+ may bundle with Paramount+ to cut subscriber losses

Still think Apple getting into streaming TV was a mistake and this may be pointing to a future "I told you so" moment.

If Apple wants to get serious they could buy the company that owns Paramount and get a huge library of Viacom, CBS and Paramount content. The CBS television network which includes a news division and a sports division. A laundry list of channels. The Pluto ad supported streaming service.

The collection of satellite/cable channels cover children, music, sports, comedy and much more.
By ownership of CBS they get a significant package of College & NFL Football, College Basketball to include March Madness and other sports properties.

Paramount is controlled by a private company called National Amusements that could likely be bought for pocket change. The public shares are currently less than $10 Billion, so it would be an easy pickup if Apple wants to go there.

Paramount would do much better without the meddlesome Redstone family.

  • New 15-inch MacBook Air sales are half the figure Apple expected

There is just no good reason to buy the thing. It seems an answer to a question nobody is asking.

I have an M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14 that almost always operates as a desktop in clamshell mode and the iPad Pro (M2) 12.9 is my primary mobile device. Essentially the iPad Pro is my laptop and with Face ID is very much preferred over the fingerprint reader used on the Macs.

I am sitting out the M2 cycle and will be updating the laptop with either a Mac mini or MBP when the M3 generation becomes available. Unless there is a profound difference the iPad Pro will hang around until the generation beyond that.

The technology for laptops and tablets is in its mature phase and evolution rather than revolution will be the norm.

Also, Apple needs to look very hard at the base model specs for RAM and storage as has been mentioned by others. 16 GB and 512 GB should be the new minimum - not 8 and 256.

"At least according to this link, market share above 70 percent is generally considered a monopoly. Below 50 percent, not. In between is a grey zone."

There was a time when General Motors has a better than 70% market share of the US car market. Not the domestic market - all of it.

Microsoft famously had better than 90% of the PC market at one time.

Frito-Lay currently controls better than 60% of the salty snack market in the US, but I do not see PepsiCo getting sued.

  • AirPods Max four years later: a missed spatial computing opportunity

I have a pair and they are pretty decent and comfortable - sound is not premium but livable.

The issue I have with them is that they cannot be used with MIDI SW or devices on a Mac because of latency. This is actually true of using the HomePods as speakers for your Mac as well.
MIDI on the Mac needs some attention.

Apple is in the business of selling services and hardware - not making political statements.

To quote Michael Jordan : Republicans buy sneakers too.

  • Samsung debuts new Galaxy S22 lineup, trio of Galaxy Tab S8 tablets

I cannot think of one person I know that has an Android tablet, Samsung or whoever.
Maybe they could be used as point of sale at a pay toilet or something.
