  • Editorial: An ad-free, premium social network... from Apple

Most of this is good analysis, but when Daniel talks about "Fake news", don't forget he's a hard core marxist.  The lies put out by "correct the record" and the Hillary campaign (eg: "Russia hacked our election!!!11!one" and that kind of BS) are considered "news" by his kind.

"Fake news" is when the truth debunks the "Fact check" and other propaganda sites.

It is positively orwellian that the purveyors of fake news have come out so strongly against "fake news" and of course link it with "harassment and radicalized hate speech"--- two things that also primarily come from these marxists--- who can forget the violent leftist thugs that rioted when a gay man tried to speak at Berkeley.

The level of orwellianness is just astounding.

Having taken over the "mainstream" media, and demonized Fox news for the past two decades for the crime of being slightly to the right of Mao, they are now condemning anyone who dares to point out the emperor (or in this case wannabe empress) has no clothes.

Lets hope Apple doesn't start censoring reality.

That would be a real reality distortion field.

AS it is now, Daniel has only himself to blame (and a drinking problem as a result).

Lets not let the next generation of kids never be exposed to reality.

  • Consumer Reports now recommends MacBook Pro after Apple software fix

No. Not after "software fix", after their FRAUD was exposed to everyone.

Running the machine with a hidden developer setting that is DESIGNED to reduce performance, and then not disclosing that fact, and then claiming an independant test shows the machine under-performs the manufacturers claims is FRAUD.  Possibly Libel/Slander as well.

CU is not a credible organization.

Wonder if they are using Apple branded wall chargers or third party.
Ahh the old "You're not charging it right" meme...

It's not a meme.  It's like playing with matches near an opened gasoline tank and then calling it "The old "you're refueling it wrong" meme"

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook talks privacy, China and Alex Jones with HBO's VICE News Tonight

    Tim-

I’ve been an Apple customer for over 30 years.  One reason has been Apple’s honesty in all things.

I don’t believe you regarding Alex Jones or not “leaning”.

If you were being honest something would have changed- but Jones was there for years, unchanged, and suddenly you remove him?

Only 30 years ago people like you and me were censored for being gay.  You have failed to champion free speech for all.

I dont like Alex Jones, but I hate fascism even more.

Today you have become the fascists, proving Reagan right when he said:

”If Fascism ever comes to America it will be under the guise of liberalism.”

My time with Apple May be coming to an end. Rather than being an all Apple household I now have a half dozen Linux machines and a Windows PC. (And still apple devices, but now I’m looking at others too.)

  • MacBook Pro fails to earn Consumer Reports recommendation for first time

    anome said:
Interesting that the 15" model seems to have greatly exceeded the listed battery life at best, and come in about normal at worst. (8 hours vs 10 hours in Apple's idealised tests seems about right.)

The 3 hour mark in the 13" is cause for concern, but I'd want more information before making a judgment. If people are genuinely seeing consistent results like that, then there's definitely something wrong. What it is requires a lot more information, and probably further testing from Apple. If you have a notebook that is consistently behaving like that, I'd get it to Apple. I've heard they will replace it so they can run tests of the faulty unit. Of course, they should anyway since you haven't had it that long.

I'm not sure how to take Consumer Reports these days, anyway. They seem to be rather fickle, given past actions around removing recommendations for things based on what I see as rather petty complaints. (I don't class this instance as petty, but I seem to recall them pulling a recommendation they had previously given for an iPhone model for something minor.)
the problem is not CR in this case..... this battery issue has been observed from day one of the release. Even Phill alluded to it when he tried to explain away the reason for 16 gig ram limit.
Bullshit. The reason for the 16 GB RAM limit is technical, and your dismissiveness of it comes only because you are technicalogically illiterate.

Consumer Reports has had a political agenda against Apple for several years and they have no creditability.... at least with people who understand what the LP in LPDDR mean.

So the poor functionality I described is just fine and dandy for you?
Apple maps has been vastly superior to google maps since 2012.  Your complaints are not indicative of a serious problem.

  • Apple Heart Study data reportedly used to win FDA approval for Apple Watch ECG

Seriously, fuck the FDA. Tens of thousands of people die each year because the FDA keeps good safe medical devices and cures off the market or makes it so expensive to get approval they are never even invented. They are not based in science they are a shakedown racket.

I really think those downplaying the significance of this are reprehensible.  Since doctors are hard to access and will blow you off if you don’t have clear symptoms, having always present medical monitoring is one of the few things that’s actually improving in health care.

Based on what? Bullshit statistics made up by politicians?

This is the problem with government, they always will create a crisis to give themselves more power, and enslave the people bit by bit.  And the gullible, like you will cheer your own enslavement.

  • Tim Cook's fundraiser for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton set for tonight

Hillary Clinton opposes gay marriage.  For this reason alone it is shameful for Tim Cook to support her.

Say what you want about Trump, and the democrats have been saying a lot of BS about him, but Trump has always considered homosexuality to be a non-issue.

Add to that that Trump supports more economic freedom than Hillary, and there's no reason Cook should support her.

Of course the Libertarians beat both of them on all counts.
