  • All iOS VPNs are worthless and Apple knows it, claims researcher

Apple cares more about adding moronic effects to Messages for children & older people who still behave like children than they do about providing a secure platform. They also care more about self-righteous posturing & fleecing third-party developers. Apple needs to grow up and b stop being morally bankrupt.

Do you understand the purpose of a review?

  • Google's RCS messaging is coming to iPhone in 2024

Apple will obviously retain a visual distinction between iMessage & other protocols. The green bubble stigma is one of the greatest marketing tools ever, and it’s free.

  • Next Apple TV could use A12Z or "A14X" in big Apple Arcade push

If Apple is making a push into higher-end gaming, you can be sure that they’ve been working with high-end game companies to port their games over to the Apple ecosystem.

Given that Big Sur will run iOS & iPadOS apps natively on Apple Silicon, you’ll be able to play games on iPhones, iPads, Macs & AppleTV.

Apple would wait until enough games were ported before launching a new AppleTV.

Apple Arcade has provided them a test for a gaming service. They could later launch Apple Arcade+ for higher-end games. And they can include it in a higher-end Apple One subscription.

Rumored Apple AR work would also likely be planned to be adapted for entertainment.

Apple seems to have been working on many initiatives that could support a successful foray into games.

Remember, the Wii wasn’t as powerful as its competitors, but did a good business.

Graphics would likely be good enough on whatever SoC Apple uses for a new AppleTV.

If it sells for much less than the new XBox & PS, provides Siri & Home integration, maybe comes with a discount for Apple One, etc., a new AppleTV could do quite well.

Apple could also release a cheap stick device that provides the non-gaming features.

  • What's really going on with Apple's modem chip efforts?

This was a terrible article. You didn’t refute anything that the WSJ article said, though you implied you would. What useful information did you provide beyond what was already in the WSJ article? You just put a fanboi spin on the situation.

  • EU tells Apple to open everything up to its rivals

The Fanbois are out in force for this one. It people want to install other app stores, browser engines, wallets, etc., show them a security warning, and they can be treated like adults who can make their own decisions. Macs allow these things but you iSheep don’t demand that these options be disallowed there. If Apple announced that they’d allowed choice in these realms without any governmental influence, you’d all be singing their praise. Stop drinking the iKool-Aid.

  • App and ride service Uber not 'fit and proper' to operate in London

Prior to Uber/Lyft I never had a problem getting a cab within a minute or two in NYC
Then you haven't been in most parts of New York.

And you haven't been in areas where tons of people are all searching for a cab at the same time.

Did you only go to tourist areas?

Ride-sharing services have drastically changed the transportation landscape in NYC for the better.

(I have no financial interest at all in ride-sharing; I'm just a satisfied rider)

  • What's really going on with Apple's modem chip efforts?

Are any of the acquired Intel patents, or is any of the technology being developed for a 5G modem, useful for other chips, like the UWB U2 chip or its successors? Could Apple use expertise gained from 5G modem to create faster, more reliable connections between its proprietary devices, allowing for faster communication between (& better battery life for) iPhones, Vision, Watch, new devices, etc.?

Why Apple just don't make all iPhone 14 models with the same pill-hole screen ?
Yeah. Why doesn't Apple just make the normal & pro models exactly the same, yet still charge more for the pro because it's "pro"? /s

  • iOS 14 will forget that a third-party app is the default, if the app is updated

I'm the furthest you can get from being an Apple apologist but maybe, just maybe they're updating the feature piecemeal so they can more adequately deal with inevitable hiccups.  It's a helluva lot less disruptive if the company and customers are dealing with a couple of issues with a couple of apps as opposed to a multitude of issues with multiple apps at the same time.  Lessons learned dealing with default email and browser issues can be applied proactively to any future default apps.
Supporting customizable default applications for URL schemes shouldn't run into any hiccups, especially for a company with Apple's resources.

The numerous problems that Apple's implementation has had, and the many other bugs in other Apple code, indicate abysmal software engineering & testing skills.
