How Apple is already using machine learning and AI in iOS
slow n easy said:I’m wondering if the Apple Car will have a similar fate as the Apple Television Set. It’s hard for me to see how they can innovate on building cars. We already have EV and self-driving, and we already have big digital displays. Cars have been innovating like crazy in the last few years. Instead of building the actual vehicles, Apple should license the software instead. Like CarPlay, but much more advanced. I can’t imagine buying a car built by Foxconn.
These companies were all founded by people with extensive experience in the segment prior to startup, and still failed. It's my belief that Apple would suffer the same fate if they "diWORSEified" into automaking. It could be significantly detrimental to the entire company if they don't cut their losses, from the enormous startup costs to the overhead and payroll costs. Better would be to license Apple's proprietary technologies to existing automakers, and charge them up the wazoo for it! -
Europe asks if Digital Markets Act should apply to iMessage
The EU should focus on higher priority issues. Guess they forgot there's a war on their border. Oh wait a second: there's TWO wars on their borders. Winter is coming, with sanctions on the Russian oil and gas they rely on to keep from freezing to death. Inflation is worse than it is here. France, England and Germany were sent reeling from record heat waves and flooding, killing thousands. Right wing extremist authoritarianism is spreading like wildfires, driven by anti-immigrant fervor.
And their knickers are in a knot about iMessage? -
Dozens of stalking victims join AirTag class action suit against Apple
The lack of empathy for victims of stalking, intimidation and violence facilitated by Apple's tracking technology in every post on this topic is stunning to me. What is wrong with you people??
For instance: "Simply…..DONT USE THEM" The victims aren't using them. AirPods are being used against them.
Or: "Who should they sue for making a bad choice of partner?" I feel sorry for anyone who chooses you for a partner.Or this: "Did the stalkers murder their victims with the airtags? Stupidity has no limits." Yes, they have, and continue to do so. AirTags are deadly weapons in the wrong hands, the same as the crosshairs in your gunsights. You're correct about stupidity having no limits. At least you know you're emotionally retarded. -
Apple Watch Series 9 vs Google Pixel Watch 2 -- Specs, price, and features, compared

i want a circular watch
Still using my motto 360 3rd gen
not sure why the obsession with all the health features
i want a watch for notifications, so I don't have to pull my phone out to see I got a new Viagra ad
Well, I'm sure. My brother was running out of breath walking his dog. His 7th Gen Apple Watch was sending him warnings about aFib. He went to a cardiologist at the VA, and he said, don't worry it's probably not aFib. The watch disagreed, multiple times every day. Two weeks later, he was out to dinner with us, and he felt so short of breath we took him to the ER. He was admitted, and an ECG confirmed aFib. He's since had two cryoablations, two cardioversions, and a Watchman implant. He's also on 4 heart medications. That watch may have saved his life. And when he falls out of sinus rhythm, he knows right away, and takes action.
And the fall detector has already saved many people who otherwise may have died. I've gotten one false alarm from tripping on an area rug, but was able to cancel it. I wear mine all day every day, and don't often take my phone when I'm out. I don't really care about texts or phone calls in the moment. And like your opinion, I don't get the obsession with having to stop whatever you're doing to answer the phone! -
Apple Watch Series 9 vs Google Pixel Watch 2 -- Specs, price, and features, compared
Doesn't matter to me (or anyone else, I think) what wonderful features and specs either watch has.
If you own an iPhone (and possibly an iPad, a MacBook, AirPods, and an Apple TV box), you buy the Apple Watch.
If you're stranded with Windows and Android hardware, then dump that junk and get the Apple Watch, an iPhone and everything else! -
iPhone 17 could be first to get new thinner & lighter motherboard tech

Kuo: Apple Watch is seeing a big sales decline year-over-year in 2023

And their incremental changes aren't going to drive upgrade cycles. The Ultra was new and different, but the buy-in was a big deterrent for the mass market. Things like Micro-LED screens won't do it. A total rethink is what it will take. I can't think of anything the Apple Watch 9 offers that would even make me consider upgrading my 7 series.Buying something you don't need because it's on sale, or takes trade-ins, is the reason Millenials and GenZ's can't afford to buy homes. They're only about 1,000 square feet (plus full basements, many of them finished), but how much does a single GenZ need? And as the young families move in, they're able to put an addition to the back, since the back yards are so large. So I'm calling BS on the "short supply at most price points." The Millennials and Z's just spend too much on cars, electronic diversion and entertainment, all financed with both bank and credit card debt.
