  • Rumored Mac Studio trade-in points to possible refresh during WWDC

The Mac Studio is a design monstrosity and should never have been produced by Apple. I agree that it was probably an interim product before the Apple Silicon Mac Pro could be released. Even so, it was a terrible mistake, tarnishing the design credentials of a design-focussed brand.

A 15" MacBook Air, if true, would be a further dilution of the brand. The MBA is a small and light laptop that fits in an envelope.

Since Sir Jony Ive left, Apple appears to have lost its way.

There is a momentum from previous successes but any more crap from Apple will start to impact.
There is and will ever be only one Jony Ive.

Why Cook didn’t do more to keep him, I’ll never know. Outside of jobs, Ive was THE soul of Apple.

It’s definitely a different Apple now and not for the better. But… Jobs and Ive were so amazing, influential and competent at passing down their ethos that Apple is still and will continue to be far and away ahead of everyone else. Just wish it had the same level of care.
All due respect to Sir Jony, he checked out years before he actually left. Without Steve Jobs to talk him down from extreme minimalist, we got many things with issues. From terrible butterfly keyboards, to hockey puck mice, to buttonless mice, to mice that can’t be used and charged at the same time due to the port on the bottom, not everything he did was great. I say this as someone who’s used macs for more than 30 years, and supported Mac users for much of that time. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. There was nothing Tim could have offered him to keep him onboard. Sir Jony’s influence will be felt for years to come but things needed to change.

  • Hands On: Wristcam, an Apple Watch band with dual cameras

I was an early bird supporter of this project and finally got mine a few months ago. While I had hoped the final product design would have matured a bit more after 5 years, I’m still fairly happy with it. I certainly don’t wear it all the time but it’s a fun add on.

  • Review: Apple's final Intel 27-inch iMac is going out with a bang

So glad I’m not the only one who gets annoyed by the complete lack of editorial oversight. At first I thought “ok, typos here and there no big deal”. But then I got to the storage comment and decided I had to comment. Come on people, take the time to have someone else look at your work before you upload.

  • Apple burns early iPad Pro adopters, loyal customers with Magic Keyboard incompatibility

A whole lot of chest thumping, shirt tearing, soap box standing going on here.
Before throwing out your magic keyboards circa 2018 can you all wait and see when the new iPad Pro comes out?

Unless Apple has intentionally displaced the 3 pins on the back of the iPad Pro 12.9, I don’t see why it still won’t attach and you still won’t be able to type on the older keyboard.
Chances are you won’t be able to fully close it and automatically  put your iPad to sleep. That’s it. Typing with it should not be a problem unless someone can confirm that Apple will intentionally disable keyboard functions inside the OS.
Actually, the magic keyboard came out right around this time last year but works with the 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro.

Unfortunately decisions like this are causing Apple to burn through goodwill and loyalty built up over many many years. Over the 25 years I've been using Macs they built up quite a bit, but mine is dangerously close to empty. Several friends have run out and abandoned Apple entirely. Cook forgets that without the loyal Apple customers that stuck with them in the '90's before he was on the scene, Apple wouldn't be here now. At the hands of Cook Apple is becoming typical of the big, lethargic profit rather than customer focussed companies we used to ridicule on these very forums.

It wouldn't be so bad if the thing wasn't so overpriced; I remember Jobs announcing the price of the original iPad to cheers from the audience, for less than the keyboard alone is now.
Slightly inaccurate statement you’ve made there. The original iPad started at $499 WiFi only with 16GB of storage.

I just received my 2020 iMac and while I love everything about it, the one thing that just irks me is Apple's decision to limit it to two TB3 ports.  It should have four.

I have dual monitors, and two TB2 drives RAID towers.  Which means for now, I can't plug in any USBc devices.  WTF Apple?
Not trying to be an apologist but want to point out that 2 TB ports are what come on the motherboards in these iMacs. I had a feeling TB4 was going to be announced but needed to replace my “ancient” 2007 iMac and am really glad I did.

Respectfully, I completely disagree. I’ve found it to be a very functional machine with just about enough I/O. It does make me think of two Mac Minis stacked on top of each other, and I have no problem with that. It made a fantastic sequel to my 2020 iMac, which was a good machine, but it’s so noisy, and left in the dust by my M1 MacBook Air. The studio is as much faster than my MacBook Air as the MacBook Air was faster than the 2020 iMac. Also, quite frankly, my Mac Studio is hidden in the holder under my desk so I don’t even see it and it doesn’t take up precious desk space which is certainly at a premium. I’ll be curious to see what they offer as trade in pricing.

Anyone who is offended by anything has power these days. Funny

Yeah, Imagine, stammerers who are often equated with having a mental handicap. Who could be offended by that?

    Well, I for one.
    And I for another.

  • ErgoFx desk review: Optimize your cable management and storage

I bought one a couple of years ago and really like it. When we moved my office down to my basement, knowing my wife wanted a standing desk, we left my first one upstairs and ordered a new one for my new office which is 12 inches longer than the first one.

Yikes that price is crazy. Just get an industry-leading Uplift v2 standing desk, add some bells & whistles, and call it a day. I have two and they're great.
