  • OWC Accelsior 4M2 offers 8TB 6GB/s storage upgrades for Mac Pro

    It's NOT bootable unless you designate one of the individual blades as the boot volume (visit their product page and view the fine print).  It can't boot from a RAID volume, which sadly renders it useless for me.  I was so excited about this product and now am hugely disappointed.
    NONE of the RAID solutions are bootable, it's a limitation Apple introduced in macOS. Sonnet has the same note on theirs as does High Point.

    actually, if you go shopping on the two sites, the TB3 equipment, like for like, is less than $60 apart, either way you go. Nothing against Akitio, OWC gear has been really easy for me to get ordered and shipped over the years & the regular sales on macsales.com not only makes it competitive priced, I've often gotten a better price from, say, B&H on the same or comparable gear (re:akitio) direct from OWC. So, that statement is clearly misguided, to say the least.

    $60 is a significant amount for a $300 item.  Akitio provided good value.  OWC, meh.
    Akitio is $50 higher on their dock. And like I said, OWC has sales quite often.
