Apple self-driving car fleet grows to 66 vehicles in California
On March 29, an Apple Maps van crashed in Kilgore, Texas. The driver died from his injuries later that day.
It's creepy how this story never made it past the local news. Interestingly, the local police department was asking the public for information about the crash. Surely, the 360° cameras, lidar, GPS, and wheel encoder collected more than enough evidence. Locals say that intersection is very dangerous.

NOTE: This was not a self-driving vehicle.

Review: VocoLinc L3 SmartGlow Color Bulb packs a ton of features in at a fair price
"Vocolinc suggests that the bulb should only cost you $6.30 per year to operate, assuming that you're running it for an average of three hours a day."
9.5 watts (at full brightness) x 3 hours/day x 365 days/year = 10.4025 kWh/year
At a national average of 10.53 cents/kWh, that's $1.10 per year.
In order for this bulb to cost $6.30 per year to operate, it must consuming 5.6 watts even when it's "off". It looks like most of the cost is to keep the bulb connected rather than produce light. A traditional, 60-watt incandescent light bulb that costs less than a dollar will cost $6.91 per year to operate 3 hours per day, but it only produces one color and isn't HomeKit compatible. -
Apple's HomePod claims six percent of the smart speaker market, as Google closes gap with ...
techprod1gy said:These numbers are not all bad. This product will continue to grow momentum. The sound quality is outstanding at all volume levels. I would put it up against anything in its price range. Yes SIRI needs some work but it is still very useful.
Unfortunately, the HomePods get to where they can't hear me over themselves sometimes - even at low volumes. I have to unplug and replug them to restore proper operation. I've had this issue since release and it's existed through all software updates. -

Italian clothing maker defeats Apple, wins rights to use 'Steve Jobs' trademark
78Bandit said:I recall a large company (I think it was Ford) in the early days of the Internet suing the person who had ford.com registered. Turned out the guys name was actually Ford and he wasn't in any kind of trademark violation. The company eventually bought the domain for what I assume was a hefty payday for the anonymous Mr. Ford.
I also remember sitting in front of my home-built desktop computer running Windows 95 and dialing up to access the internet using my 28.8kbps modem. I opened Netscape Navigator and typed in "http://www.nissan.com" expecting to see cars. Instead, I saw the following web page:
http://www.nissan.com/
The legal battle over this domain name has been going on for two decades. It still doesn't belong to the car company. -

DoorDash confirms 4.9M accounts accessed in major server breach
DoorDash. Ha!
I first tried this service a few months ago because it was the only food delivery service in the small town where I work.
The restaurant from which I ordered is five minutes away. The restaurant immediately began preparing the food when I submitted the order and it was ready for pickup within minutes. Using the app, I watched one driver accept the run only to cancel minutes later before another driver from almost 30 minutes away accepted it. The quesadillas were finally delivered to me by a smelly, middle-aged obese man wearing a tank top and too-short shorts driving a filthy SUV full of passengers including an unrestrained child in the front seat about an hour and fifteen minutes later.
I got a full refund and canceled my service. Thankfully, I joined and canceled in June. -
Apple said to be working on fixing 'aggressive' skin smoothing in iPhone XS photos
I noticed this within minutes of receiving of my Xs Max last Friday and posted a comment about it on here.
"The most impressive aspect of my Xs Max so far is the quality of selfies taken by the front-facing camera. For the first time ever, I look better in selfies than in the mirror. There's obviously some "beauty filtering" going on because I know I don't look this good in real life. I'm not sure how I feel about that just yet."
