Looks like that will work great as a last resort thx. Only reason i dont go w/ it right now is because i dont really need the tv viewing capability. Just the componant video/audio in capability. Hopefully i can save some money by going w/out the tv …

Am i to assume that will also work for the iBook or is it only the powerbook? i know that may seem like a dumb question, but im just not sure if that is a feature of the PB's and not the iBooks. thx for your help by the way

were you able to figure it out? i've tried doing the same thing but ive always had to crack the lid open a little so it would wake up.

i think there was an installer thing that lets you install the extra stuff on the disk. when you put in the disk, and it pops up the screen w/ the contents, just scroll down and find the isntaller for the "extras" or whatever it calls it. If you can…

Yea, if you just throw in the OS X CD and reinstall X11 on off it, it should work again.

the problem i ran into w/ that is when i deleted the mail from apple's Mail client, it didnt delete it from gmail. i dont want it stored on my computer either cuz i still want to utitlize the 2Gb+ of space on gmail. eh

well after reinstalling X11 and doing the "-ls" thing for the XTERM it works now. I guess it just went stupid. lol Whatever, it works. thx

okay, i found a real easy solution to this. Im just using xterm now. it has all the same capabilities (that i can see) and x11 is obviously running so i can run my nedit, and any other application i want. thx for all the help

okay, new question, sorta... is there a way to start X11 w/out it popping up its terminal and stuff? like, start it up hidden? I need the service running, but dont want all that stuff popping up. thx for your help

yea, i think a much more interesting card is going to be ATI's R520.

the ibook DOES have a fan but it usually idles very low making it almost silent. If you run the apple diagnostics, it spins it up to full speed for a few seconds to test it out. then you can hear it. but yea, its very quiet. all i do on my ibook…
