It seems like the obvious comparison is when Apple decided to drop 3D Touch on the iPhone XR.

StandBy hasn't been lost because the iPhone 16e doesn't have MagSafe. StandBy without the always-on display is pointless. The magic of StandBy comes from the combination of MagSafe and always-on, and the 16e has neither.

As an iphone 12 user, the clumsy, giant form factor of the 16e combined with lack of magsafe makes the 16e extremely uncompelling. It's not even cheap. Zero chance this is my next smartphone.

Apple wants to give buyers a chance to go up-market, and people will pay up for a premium form-factor, even without an appreciable spec bump. see early MacBook Airs for a great example of that. Apple has sat on a nearly identical set of form facto…

Great to hear Podcasts will be fixed in iOS 18.1. I had given up on Apple's podcasts app.

I checked 18.0.1 and Apple podcasts still has the awful bug that incorrectly marks episodes as played even if you never started listening to them. I guess it's back to iOS 17 for me.

As a 12 mini user... based on the specs of the 16 proposed here, a used 13 mini is absolutely the upgrade for me.

What's more likely is that Apple bought the hardware outright from the company, and used it within its own data centers. Is there any source for this claim? Wall street has been asking Google to sell TPU hardware basically forever but as far as any…

DisplayPort has absolutely not been eclipsed by HDMI in modern usage. As I understand it, every USB-C and Thunderbolt is actually using a DisplayPort profile on the wire. HDMI is more popular for TVs, but for any computer monitor DisplayPort 1.4 o…

Relatively speaking, Apple does not sell that many Mac Studio or Mac Pro units. Not like this they won't...

Time for a fire sale on FineWoven accessories? I would totally take a FineWoven Magnetic Link watch band if they were $10 instead of $100.

Yup, it says the iPhone 15 Pro has an 11% worse form factor than my 12 mini. Eh, I'll pass.
