Oh sorry about that. Well I tried powered speakers with the iPod, and only the right channel works (as with the earphones). Speaker works fine with my computer. Also tried the earphones with and without the remote control attached to the iPod.

Actually, if you enable Windows sharing and link the two computers together (either by directly as the king suggest or through a hub), you should be able to just 'browse the network' on your PC. I do that occasionally when I'm too lazy to ftp.
