If Philips wrote an API for this that's as user friendly as the API for their light bulbs, then these will be my next smart plugs. The Hue API is outstanding. It's open and well documented.

I keep waiting for Microsoft to rename itself Pleap.

The new Blue Screen Of Death will imply that it's you who died, not your PC. Yay, Microsoft.

The price of BetterTouchTool is crazy low. Even if it cost $65 instead of $6.50 I'd still recommend it. I bought a lifetime license and feel like it's one heck of a bargain. I don't remember when I first started using BetterTouchTool, but it's be…

Keyboard Maestro instead of BetterTouchTool? BTT can do so much more, including repurposing old Apple remotes, adding more functionality to trackpads (for example, I use 3 finger swipe L/R to switch tabs, going to the left or right). Etc etc etc. …

I'm seeing this in the latest version of iOS 11 too, using the standard Apple lightning cable that came with my iPhone, connected directly to my late 2014 Mac Mini. Interestingly, I didn't notice the change after I updated iOS. Instead, I noticed …

Another easy way to cut back on Facebook: MOVE YOUR BOOKMARK. After a while, we get so used to our bookmarks being organized in a certain way that we browse the web without even thinking about it. Rearrange your bookmarks a bit. It'll help you g…

I would have bought an iPhone X on launch day if it had the Display Zoom feature. Sadly, it doesn't (yet). In case you're not familiar, I'm not talking about zooming. I'm specifically referring to the option in settings at Settings > Display …

Airfoil is a fantastic app. I bought it last year and my only regret is not buying it a long time ago. For me, the best thing about Airfoil is that it has support for Applescript - which means - you can automate it in all kinds of ways. I created…

I'll add another positive vote for Hue over LIFX. If you're handy with code, you can write your own for Hue using the Hue API which is open and documented. It's pretty awesome. I programmed the brightness keys on my Mac Mini's keyboard to control…

I've been using Hue since 2013 and I love it. The Hue API is open and well documented, so you can do all kinds of things with it if you're someone who likes to tinker. For example, back in 2013, I realized I had an old white Apple Remote sitting a…

If you like to code, you can do all sorts of great things with the Philips Hue API. For example, I use the function keys on my Mac to control my lights. I also paired my Hue up with a Flirc USB dongle. Flirc receives IR codes from remotes and tra…

The main reason I didn't replace my Apple TV from 2010 is because Apple removed the optical audio output, which means I wouldn't be able to connect a new Apple TV directly to my stereo when I'm streaming iTunes.

What I really want to see is that black keyboard and (presumably) silver Magic Trackpad shown in the iMac Pro images. I wish those were sold separately.

I bet it'll make him richer though, and that's all he cares about. He cares about his riches and his ego.

Does anybody know if I'd be able to run the 4K 21.5 inch version of this monitor on a late 2014 Mac Mini at 1600x900 and have the screen look crisp? I've been specifically looking for a 21 or 21.5 inch 1600x900 native monitor, but I can't find one.…

I wish we could see the ads that didn't make it on the air. That campaign was fantastic.
