  • I've got AT&T and I'm in the Northeast. I find the coverage/reception to be fine as long as I'm near the major routes, which is the same for all the carriers around here. I did hear that Sprint is spotty with their coverage however. I was also c…
  • I hear you MrBill but that seems like a catch-22 for Apple. The only way for them to be noticed as a serious computer company by Joe Public is to have a gimmick. Colors get people to notice but then they say, "Oh, it's just a kids computer or a cute…
  • I agree that Apple needs more advertising. The switch campaign is good but its just a start. I understand the idea of the switch ads to show ordinary people using macs but I worry that non-Apple fans don't pay much attention to them. Frankly, some o…
  • OS 9.1 on iMacDV400, OS X on iBook. Running 9.1 until I get my new iMac 17". I'm waiting for one more upgrade (133 bus, 64mb video) and then I'm all X!
  • I just bought an iBook this week at the Apple Store. They said to save my receipt and when Jag ships I'll get it for $19.99. He also said once it ships it will be the default OS on all the new machines.
  • Where would I find the Graphic Converter or save it as JPEG2000?
  • thanks
  • Wow! I thought this thread was a joke but you're serious?!?!! Are you actually comparing Bush's past alcoholism or drug use to Clinton's having sex in the oval office? The Republicans never dogged Clinton on past drug use. It was his actions while …
  • I find it amusing that Bush is always painted as being in bed with big oil and having the interests of oil companies behind all his actions. No one ever accused Bill Clinton of being in bed with lawyers or Jimmy Carter of being in the pocket of farm…
  • Maybe someone can help me out. I think alternative fuel vehicles are a good idea, but I wonder about the power. I have nothing against SUV's. Hell, I've got two. Can the alternative cars (hydrogen, electric, etc.) tow a camper? Are they feasible for…
  • I guess I'm wondering if this is all just observation or if you're offering a solution to this "disparity". Again, I agree that outside factors do play a large role. And I do think its naive to think everyone can overcome their specific situation j…
  • I think this "case against personal responsibility" is a bit flawed. We don't all believe fat people have no self control or poor people are lazy or rich people are hard-working and so forth. I think everyone realizes that outside forces affect us e…
  • I heard that 10.2.2 is going to cost $129 unless you bought Jaguar between Sep25 and Oct5. Then it will be $128.

  • Sometimes I wonder what the incessant preoccupation with speed is. Macs are slower than pc's. This is not going to change anytime soon. I find it odd that someone would switch back to Apple from the PC world and then complain about speed issues. Su…
  • I think Sherlock 3 is great but I like Watson 1.5.5 even better! In addition to all the Sherlock channels, they have amazon, google search, meerkat, packages, phone (with residential listings too), recipies, TV, version tracker, zip codes and weathe…
  • rok - you can quit an app while its in the dock w/o maximizing it. Just click-hold on it and a menu pops up with a quit command. pscates & rok - i think the idea of the ripple effect for opened/closed/quit apps is awesome. Definitely better …

  • I use Watson daily. I find it much better than Sherlock3. It's faster, has a better GUI, and more useful channels. It also is updated more often with new channels and improvements. I find it well worth the $30.
  • Sure ads and spam suck but that's how webmail is "free". I'm always surprised at how many people buy into the "free lunch" myth. Wake up people, there's no such thing as a free lunch! (Remember the ads for NetZero? "Free internet for life!" Well, no…
