So maybe a touch faster than 2080 performance for about the same 700 dollars, but having to get there by being a fabrication node down and without any of the silicon Nvidia is spending on RTX, and all 5 months later, is I guess an ok slightly better…

Hoping for an iMac refresh soon with this (Nvidia 2000 series would be better, but we're beyond hope of that now). And hope the non-pro gets the dual blower from the Pro.

Hoping for an iMac redesign this round. At the very least, get rid of the HDD option to make way for the dual blower cooler of the Pro, even if it stays with the same class/wattage of chips it would mean less throttling.

The P/E multiple is looking awfully low especially after that 15% flash sale. Been loading up. I very much doubt this is the peak of Apples money making power, and they'll be around for decades, so it seems like an amazing buy-in opportunity.

I just feel like when you get to the point where you add a keyboard that doubles the weight and makes it a makeshift clamshell, all you've made is a worse clamshell laptop. I remain far more interested in a clamshell laptop running macOS and Apple…

Been loading up on AAPL while it's on sale. Look at the price to earnings vs any other FAANG. I think indexing and a fidgety market hit it disproportionately while the fundamentals are very strong. Also buying Microsoft. Never got why they weren'…

The biggest thing here to me is that the MX150 beats the 555X at OpenCL performance, an area which historically has been cited as a reason Apple stays with AMD (apart from the legal spat...Nvidia usually hasn't cared to optimize OpenCL as much in fa…

Wish Apple found a better way to mass apply thermal paste, and make it of better quality at that scale. Didn't make too much difference here, but in other tests such as the i3 mentioned it makes a large one. With Apple spending so much R&D on …

Sunny Cove is a fundamentally wider core than most every Intel design since Sandy Bridge, as well, expanding from four-wide issue to five-wide and increasing the number of execution ports from eight to 10. Each of those execution units, in turn, is …

AMD filed for the name "Vega 2". Probably to differentiate 7nm Vega from the real next gen architecture, Navi, while still showing it's substantially new. Hope they're out in time for the next iMac refresh, which is shaping up to be a good one.

Any chance you could get a picture with the bottom removed? Curiously the i9 in this seems to score better than the same i9 from months ago (accounting for the patch), so I wonder if the cooler is redesigned to deal with Vega.

Interesting design - you'll notice the fan doesn't directly pass over heatpipe fins, but rather there's just a small block heatsink on the CPU while the fan ambiently draws air through the chassis. As I speculated it appears they went for a semi-pas…

If the Nontouchbar got an update any time soon to T2 and Butterfly 3 alone, it would still be my pick over this. Not much price difference, P3, 500 nits, Iris Plus, higher wattage CPU, and the battery life on the new Air isn't as far ahead as the ol…
