This discussion reminds me of college, reading about Herman Kahn's ladder of escalation on the way to nuclear war. One side argues "Thinking the unthinkable" is bad because it makes the unthinkable likely, the other argues that "thinking the unthin…

Yes, IMHO the Mactels will be as quiet as the PowerPC's. Ever since the G4 "Windtunnel" fiasco, Apple has been putting quite a bit of effort into quieting its machines. There's no reason that effort won't continue. Besides, the first machines…

I don't believe that you can use the CPU's from later G4's - IIRC they are soldered onto a proprietary daughtercard that wasn't used/doesn't fit into the Blue & Whites. What you can use is ZIF processors, G3 or G4. Check out OWC at macsale…

Hmm. Very optimistic. I especially like the part about Power5 products availability in the 2nd half of 2004 We have a winner ! That's how Steve is going to meet his 3 GHz by "this time next year" goal. Straight to 3 GHz G6 on July 1, a…

I had a 12" 867 for awhile ('til it was stolen). I had both the iCurve and the Podium Coolpad. I personally loved the PB keyboard - I preferred it. I used the CoolPad as a result. If you're using a LCD with it, you'll probably use an iCurve --…

Is it possible that HP could license WMA for playback on its iPods, while Apple continues to leave WMA alone? Obviously, Microsoft wouldn't want to do this, but given the antitrust settlement, it may not be possible or legally desirable for MS …
