Guys, the bar has been raised: http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/03/t...lds-first-sna/ http://www.mobilecomputermag.co.uk/2...martphone.html + BIG screen, beautiful screen quality + thinner + really fast cpu + sdhc card slot So, even do…

imac 24" screen construction is not pro quality. Too much backlight bleed and lighting uniformity variation, even if the glossy glass is not considered. I think Apple could have done the glossy glass exactly to discourage pros from using an 2.8Gh…

Penryn family on whole was two months overdue from original schedule. If AMD continues to falter in 2008, Intel is likely to postpone Nehalem release. Further, it is likely that desktop gets an initial release, followed by mobile and Xeon. …

I wonder if the single CPU 2.8GHz has the exact same innards as the rest of the BTO line? That is, with 2 sockets, same amount of RAM and PCI-E slots? That looks like a decent option for most graphics pros and can be later on upgraded to dual …

Apple TV 2.0 would have to: - support 1080p at high bitrates - support other sources than just iTunes store - support other containers other than quicktime - support other codecs than h.264 (namely *gasp* vc-1) But it won't. So it …

jfdesign: macbook pro vs new imac iMac is still a desktop, even if on a portable mobo+chipset. It has more room. It can run more power hungry components with higher thermal output, etc. If you want a draggable, instead of a laptop, it is possi…

I wonder what panel the 24" has and what is the maximum addressable memory out of 4GB? 2.8GHz as a BTO, that's interesting. I wonder how the thermals will do around with that. I hope it's still very quiet. Mac Mini updates... probably not much…

Come next January and there'll better be a lot of new products I think the fact that Apple is now fully tied to Intel release schedule is finally starting to show. Maybe in future they'll start moving MWSF and WWDC around to better track the …

I'm in no obligation to do googling or learning for you, but here goes: http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39...9284115,00.htm If you read electronics weekly industry magazines you will notice that all Asian manufacturers are looking into this …

"dual screen idea seems a bit foolish IMO." Yes, but it's a fad now going through ALL the notebook manufacturers (Wintel). Apple may be able to resist it, time will tell. It has nothing to do with table form factor. It's like the second (s…

With deep-sleep states in the new cpus and better power reduction in the gpus & backlighting, I'm hoping 15-35% longer battery life (it would be a welcome addition). For wireless, I assume non-draft level 802.11n will become standard this yea…

I've heard several Mac Pros and it's not anywhere near SPC level quiet. I hope Apple could make it even better (the new chips in the pipeline would theoretically allow that, not to mention advanced in PSU efficiency and more streamlined case design)…

Definitely holding off purchases until next updates, some purchases maybe even beyond that (buy when I need or when the update is really worth the upgrade): Mac Pro - Wishing for more real-life bandwidth for multi-cores - Hopefully a new enclo…

I have a slightly over one year old TiBook. Battery runs c. 1.2 hours. Considering many 1.7Ghz Pentium M laptops manage between 4-6 hours, I think it's a disgrace. I hope Apple can fix this soon.

I have the exact same problem. TiBook 1GHz and with light typing and surfing I can manage barely an hour or so of work with the standard battery (with screen brightness at c. half of max). I have found a bigger replacement battery, but haven't…

Thanks! Anybody know the maker/model of the card? How about Bluetooth? Is it also a plug-in card onto the motherboard, is it a USB dongle or just a surface mounted chip?
