  • Apple's Eddy Cue says Google is default search engine because it is the best option

Eddy, you need to explore others, especially those that don't sell your email to everyone else.

  • Apple won't make a Google search rival, says Cue

Apple’s iOS is already enabling immediate sharing of my search history data between Google and DuckDuckGo, despite me having turned off all possible cookies trackers and address book sharing. Searches on one affected and tainted search results on the other, making them indistinguishable to me anymore.
    See https://duckduckgo.com/privacy
--We don’t track you. That’s our Privacy Policy in a nutshell.
We don’t save or share your search or browsing history when you search on DuckDuckGo or use our apps and extensions.

DuckDuckGo says they don't share search or browsing history. Does Google search somehow grab DDG search history? As for address book sharing, DDG doesn't have anything to do with that. Of course, you're using an msn.com email account so things might be different on Windows browsers.

  • Thunderbolt 5 launches with twice the speed of Thunderbolt 4

Will Intel allow others to create TB5 hardware or are they back to forcing companies to license and/or buy everything from Intel? Will this be an official standard that allows companies like Apple to use the new standard without being sued to death?

The crazy thing is Thunderbolt 3/4 is not being used that much except by Apple. USB4 is not using the top speed of USB, which is slower than TB3/4. Putting out something faster is not really going to be used by that many people because the full TB hardware is not inexpensive while USB4 (not including TB connectivity) is much less expensive. I can see TB5 controllers being extremely expensive and the only way to use that full 80Gbps is with a RAID configuration of SSDs.

Of course, all of this will use a marginally good plug and jack system (USB-C).

  • iPhone 15 USB-C vs Lightning -- here's what you need to know

One slips in smoothly and easily without looking (Lightning).

The other you have to line up with a touch of care and usually having to look (USB C).
You folks are going to invent every possible back-of-hand-to-forehead problem with USB-C possible, aren't you? It's an absolute wonder that some of you were ever able to cope with connecting anything before precious Lightning was birthed from Phil Schiller's courageous bosom.
You folks? Us folks have history with all kinds of connectors and USB-C is a loose connection that has many problems. Lightning works as long as you keep the port clean from lint.

  • Apple accessories set for rapid Lighting to USB-C shift

This really sucks because USB-C connectors are known to not stay connected. Lightning is just fine for phones, especially because this is a really good connector that actually stays connected. I continue to have issues with USB-C cables staying connected to external storage and my iMac. The connection keeps dropping, even after I tape the connector to the SSD enclosure. Move it a tiny bit and it disconnects. I've never had this problem with Lightning except when the cable has been damaged. It really upsets me that an inferior "standard" is being forced on Apple. Intel has never provided the computer market with a good connector.
