  • EU law requiring easier iPhone battery replacement inches closer to enactment

Does the EU design and manufacture any cellular devices (that anyone actually buys)? Tough talk telling non EU members how to do things. Since when does any EU member country have the expertise to even decide these things?

  • Japan law will require Apple to allow alternate iPhone app stores

I wonder if anyone at Apple has been paying attention to what Reddit did recently?  How much will it cost for developers that don't use the Apple App Store to use the APIs that Apple has developed?
I'm hoping Apple will charge "developers" a ton of money who want to set up their own app store. I use the term developers loosely because what they're doing is simply "legally" hacking the iOS environment. (At least in those countries who don't want to acknowledge a company's proprietary software.) I don't understand why people and countries feel they have a right to access a company's product, telling them what they can and can't do with that product. There are, and have been, plenty of products that didn't allow software from non-company developers. Has Japan, and all the other poaching countries, contributed anything of value to Apple products? Software developers, yes, but not any government entity.

  • A new web standard will add another layer of security to online payment services like Appl...

Currently just works with malware-providers Chrome and Edge on the Mac. Is W3C "owned" by Google or Microsoft? If it's being pushed by the EU, I can see why Safari isn't included.

  • Bug in new Mac Pro is disconnecting internal drives

Nothing new. I have external SSD drives (TB and USB-C) that disconnect then reconnect for no reason.

  • M2 Mac Studio vs Mac Pro 2023 -- compared

Strange: why is the memory not user-upgradable?
Because Apple is using an integrated SoC (system on a chip) instead of discrete components (CPU, RAM, storage). Once you break out the components you start losing speed.

Apple’s unified memory (RAM and storage) is tightly knit allowing RAM to quickly access storage without any lag.
