  • Apple finally launches high-yield Apple Savings account

    mystigo said:
You need iOS 16.4 and its accessed through the Daily Cash option in the AppleCard "three dot" menu.
For those who need expanded steps on finding it (like me):

    1. Open Apple credit card in wallet.
    2. Click on circle with 3 dots in it.
    3. Click on Daily Cash
    4. Scroll down to Daily Cash Election, click on Set Up next to Savings.
    5. Read the not so fine print (4.07% interest rate as of today (so, yes, it will change daily) then press Continue.
    6. oops! It actually went into Confirming my info, not saying to wait a bit.

    ---
    7. After adding my SSN, then pressing Next it still says service unavailable. I'll wait for an hour.

Since this goes through Goldman Sachs, it probably is a good idea to do some research on their interest history. The iOS app store has plenty of Goldman Sachs apps but going to their website doesn't really get me anywhere. Since we are given a savings account at GS, there has to be a way to monitor this account outside of the Apple Card account. Ideas??

  • Apple expected to lay iOS 17 sideloading groundwork at WWDC 2023

Need to get lawyers ready for the first attacks on iOS once side-loading is a feature. Instead of going after the perpetrator they need to go after the countries who demanded side-loading. Those countries are the actual perps. In addition, side-loading must be defaulted to being turned off without any possible way of hacking that setting. There also needs to be constant monitoring of the setting, shutting off all external access until the user can determine what's going on. In addition, Apple needs to include its own monitoring software spyware to log and report every user who has side-loading turned on and the apps that are installed. This needs to be fed to a global database owned by Apple so they have all the information on where attacks come from so Apple can countersue any country and individual who loads malware onto an iOS device and triggers it.

To those countries who are legislating a back door into Apple products, get ready for lawsuits the first time an Apple device is attacked.

  • HomePod mini & HomePod vs Sonos Era 100 & 300 -- Compared

I use two HomePod minis as TV speakers and they sound a ton better than the built-in speakers in my Sony XBR TV. The ease of setup using basic Apple software is why I stopped using a regular home theater system. I don’t have room for my home theater system anymore.

  • Mac shipments collapse 40% year over year on declining demand

Reduced purchases have everything to do with the ridiculous economy. Food continues to skyrocket and gas refuses to stay down. At least lumber prices have finally come down but house prices along with rentals have gone crazy. People are finally reducing spending on extra items and computers are one of those extras. As long as it runs it’s good enough for now. It doesn’t help that Apple prices continue to go up but a lot of this increase is due to supplier cost increases. A second factor is many people have maxed out credit cards and are finally reducing their spending to pay them off. Of course none of this affects the top 20% who live being in debt.

  • Apple Weather forecasts suffer rare outage

Doesn't really matter in the Pacific Northwest. We were supposed to have two sunny days, yet I woke up to rain this morning. No app can forecast the weather, they depend on the weather forecasting people/system they get the feed from. I doubt the app is the problem in this case, I've heard the PNW has limitations on the number and accuracy of reliable weather radar and forecasting systems.
