  • Apple surrenders one hour of profit to Russia for antitrust violations

Trying to think like Apple--there are a lot of consumers in Russia who are not like Putin and who shouldn't be considered as such. It's a difficult decision for Apple to shut down all sales to Russia (or any other country) just because of the person in charge. My hope is real Russians will stay with Apple once Putin goes away. $12M is not that much money to keep a foot in this country IF its citizens find a way to remove Putin.

  • Best laser printers for Mac in 2023: revolutionize your printing experience

The Canon 644 (and likely the others) has something called a "fax" function. This is unusable unless you have a dedicated phone land line. Anyone know of any alternatives for use in the cell era?
There's plenty of fax apps available that let you fax through the internet for a reasonable cost. Scan everything to a pdf and fax it. It's much faster than the old twisted pair telephone connection. There's also the possibility of the fax function on these printers being able to send the scans through the internet. I haven't looked for one since I rarely need this function except for antiquated government agencies.

As for using a cellular connection, I believe I've seen Apple apps that let you "fax" using cellular including using the phone's scan feature. If you have a large amount of pages to send you can scan to a Mac, save it on a cloud account, access the pdf on your phone and fax it. It's a little more effort but probably more secure.

  • In 2022, the European smartphone market hit its lowest point in a decade

So the European market is saturated and COL is at record levels. Then it's time for the EU to stop trying to make money by suing Apple. They would be better off focusing on the real problems instead of fake ones.

  • Supreme Court admits they're not the best choice to decide the future of the internet

I'm glad the supreme court finally realized, at least in this instance, that they don't know anything about the internet. As for Congress being better suited, I highly doubt that as well. Congress, made up of politicians, makes many decisions based on who's paying them the most amount of money. Going after Google for something posted on youtube is hilarious when there are purported news agencies who constantly make up things and have rarely been held accountable. It take a lawsuit to stop them and even then that is subject to our judicial system, which is suspect at best.

  • Intel has a faster processor than M2 Max, but at what cost?

How many people are going to dump their Apple or Intel computers and switch. These comparisons seem to be filler and mainly for informational purposes but has very little practical application. I could be wrong but someone can come up with an Intel based device that’s 10 times faster and I still wouldn’t change.
I agree. Apple has changed to it's own silicon and I doubt they'll ever go back to Intel. I definitely won't ever buy a Windows PC (again, bought one for my daughter during law school in the early 2000's because they were required to use one for tests). Intel can only make fast or low power chips, they can't make both in one chip. If you own a utility company, go ahead and buy something with an Intel CPU in it and have it constantly connected to power. That's called a desktop. Also invest in a huge cooling system because you'll need it. Apple could create a desktop-specific SoC that uses a lot of electricity but that's not where they want to go. Apple wants people to use their computers wherever the consumer wants to use them. They don't want them tied to an electrical outlet.
