  • Mark Zuckerberg claims Apple's App Store charges 'monopoly rents,' stifles innovation

    esteban said:
We knew this narrative would be coming because iOS will ding their ad revenue, as others pointed out.
The timing however, seems deflection from FB's failure to apply their own standards, which helped lead to a 17 year old crossing state lines illegally with a rifle, and killing 2 and maiming 1, in Kenosha.
Please keep your misinformation to yourself.  There is nothing illegal about crossing state lines with a rifle.  All evidence (and there is plenty of it in video, photos, and pre-incident interviews) to show the above to not be true.  He was there with a med kit and had been helping treat everyone including rioters.  He was interviewed that evening at least once.  He defended himself against rioters and vandals who were trying to kill him and he tried to avoid problems by retreating. He fell and the guy who was maimed assaulted him with a pistol in hand.  One of the guys killed chased him and assaulted him with a skateboard, which can kill the way it was used.   So please keep your misinformation to yourself.

  • How to use an NVMe drive to upgrade your Mac's SSD

On a desktop you can just use a thunderbolt case with NVMe sad  change your boot drive to boot of the external.  I did this in my fusion drive equipped iMac. Much faster.

  • Tesla iOS app set to gain two-factor authentication soon

I’d be embarrassed as well if I were Tesla, who claims to be a tech leader.  A ton of apps I use already use authenticators or at least SMS two factor and have for years.

  • Brazilian Supreme Court to decide whether Apple can use 'iPhone' brand name

I don't know how Brazil trademark law works, but in the US you just can't file for anything you want as a trademark.  You have to show it actually be used in trade as I understand it.  Ie, when you first release the product you put the little "tm" next to it and apply for the trademark showing your usage of it with the little "tm" to prove it is actually being used. When it is approved you can change it to the (r) -- r in the circle registered trademark symbol.

If this company applied in 2000, was approved in 2008, but did not actually  use it in trade until 2012, if the Brazil law is at all similar to the US law, then this company may not be able to enforce it since they were not actually showing a "trade mark" -- a mark used in trade.

  • Long-time Mac developer's apps pulled from Mac App Store because of automated system failu...

Why does he choose to go by Krystof Vasa on the App Store if his web site is Charlie Monroe?
Charlie Monroe Software is the company name.   Charlie Monroe is not the developer’s name.   They are located in the Czech Republic and based on their website are a small family business.

Maybe they are fans of the musician Charlie Monroe? Who knows why they named their company the way they did.
