  • Senators Elizabeth Warren & Sherrod Brown push for Apple Card probe by CFPB

Supposedly there is a stat that charges more interest for some females than males, and Congress gets involved because that's discriminatory.  Meanwhile since the invention of auto insurance 16 year old boys are charged more than 16 year old girls because stats show there is a reason...and that's acceptable.

Just gonna grab my popcorn and watch this one unfold.

  • Facebook fixes issue that activated iPhone's camera without user knowledge

It’s not about FB, it’s Apple.
When iOS is incapable of stopping these kind of loophole, how can we be feeling safe using all other apps?
It is capable. You had to have granted the Facebook app access to your camera, which is a security function of iOS, for this to have happened at all. Any app can use your camera, but you have to allow it. I never granted Facebook access to my camera, because I don't trust them.

My only suggestion to Apple would be to add some kind of indicator that either camera is active, like a little dot similar to what you see when your Mac's camera is active.
Or could they offer a "this time only" option for the camera?  Rather than always blocking or always allowing, allow me to allow access to my camera until I close the app.  If I were using Facebook I'd choose that if there is a photo I want to share.  Popup asking to always/this time/never grant, I choose "this time" and take my photo and close the app.  Never again would it have access to my camera until I specifically grant it again.

  • Apple Watch Series 5 -- Review, one month later

@Airnerd. Wondering if something isn’t wrong with your watch(es). I have a 44mm 5 LTE version. Put it on when I get up, usually around 5am. Throughout the day, I walk one dog 3 miles, one dog 2 miles, and bike anywhere from 3-11 miles. For each of those, I have music streaming from the watch (don’t carry my phone) and either outdoor walk or outdoor cycling workout app running. That’s 45 minutes first walk, 30 minutes second walk, and 15-55 minutes third walk. Throughout the day I stream music when taking dogs out for bathroom breaks or additional running in yard (50 and 60 pound working dogs with LOTS of energy). I almost always have 10% or more battery when going to bed around 9 pm. Never has the battery been below 5%. I have noticed sometimes my charge is only somewhere in the mid 80s or mid 90s when I grab watch off charger in the morning, but my charger sits on dog crate that dog gets in and out of occasionally at night. Not sure if he’s knocking it loose or the battery stops charging it intentionally like the iPhone does. I went from Watch 3 to Watch 5 as well, but I haven’t seen any battery degradation. I do close out the background apps on the watch at least once a day. Thus is all on 6.0.1, but has been the same since new.
In case anyone ever sees this, upgrade to 6.1 if you have AW5 battery issues.  I did so last night and while I normally have 80-85% battery after less than 2 hours of wearing the watch I am still sitting here at 100% this morning.  Whatever change they made in 6.1 was a good one!

  • Three episodes of 'The Morning Show' coming to Apple TV+ on Nov. 1

Yeah the show is getting "significant media buzz" for sure.  And what I've been reading is that it isn't good buzz.  I realize that people tend to either love all things Apple or hate all things Apple so I'll wait to see if I like it for myself.  But the reviews aren't coming in very good.

  • Apple's Tile-like tracking device named 'AirTag' in iOS 13.2

Can the Air Tags get a radar like display on my watch that shows the relative location of the tag?  I could imagine some pretty cool games to play with my son doing a "treasure hunt" if he has to use the watch to find the tag.

Yeah, I'm a big kid...always looking with how to have fun with tech.  :)
