Samsung owes Apple $539M for infringing on iPhone patents, jury finds
So I have avoided this case for the most part, knowing it would be decades before it was settled. But can someone explain to me this idea of "sum of the parts" and why that lets Samsung off the hook?
Would that mean I can make a car that looks just like a Ferrari (but performs noticeably worse in order to make this comparison to Samsung equivalent!) and sell it without any ramifications? The car is just a summation of parts after all, and I didn't replicate the Ferrari engine or drivetrain. -
Apple knew in advance about iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus 'Bendgate' says court filing
DAalseth said:Did not and do not have any sympathy for morons that put their phone, any phone, in their back pocket and sit on it. It bends. It breaks. Duh. They deserve a dope-slap and be told to 'don't do that'. I have an SE and I don't put it in my back pocket. It's just common sense.
It's just common decency. -

Once the screen stopped working and they said it wasn't bent but had been flexed. The second time the cellular antenna stopped working and they claimed it was bent despite it being perfectly table-top tested flat and charged me $350 for an out of warranty replacement.
Now I paid it because it's a large phone and frame and prone to bending due to physics. But i will never in my life by a phone that size again for this reason. not from Apple or anyone. If Apple can't make it last more than a year between replacements then no one can. -
'iPhone SE 2' has iPhone X-style screen and notch according to case vendor
georgie01 said:It seems that people who don’t care about small phones think this potential/rumoured SE ‘2’ is silly or unlikely, but to those who prefer smaller phones it’d be awesome. My wife hasn’t bothered to upgrade her phone because she doesn’t want a big phone—why should people like her only have the option of getting the leftovers at budget prices? She’s willing to pay for the latest and greatest phone if it’s smaller.
I’d even consider trading in my X for this SE if it ends up being real. I don’t particularly like big phones either (but the existing SE screen is too small and the screen/display technology is comparatively old, even though it’s a decent product).
I don't expect that to be real, though. They aren't going to make an SE 2 that is better looking than the 8. -
