  • Apple audio processing could change the way headphone users experience music

    Seems ,interesting.
But Apple Watch coupled with AirPods make the best combination I’ve ever seen .
When it works, I agree.  About every 3rd time that I stream Apple Music to my airpods from my watch instead of my phone I end up having to reset my watch from new so that it will remember that my phone exists.

The first three times I went through this I contacted Apple.  Since then I'm tired of the same answer:  "that shouldn't happen, try resetting from new".  It's to the point I just always now keep my phone with me.

But yeah, when it works, the AW3+LTE and airpods are a great combo.

  • Apple knew in advance about iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus 'Bendgate' says court filing

If your behind is that big , for crying out loud, please don’t sit on your damn phone.
I've stated it many times here about my personal experience with my wifes 6+.  She carries it in her purse, rarely in her pocket due to the size of the phone plus the lifeproof on it.

Once the screen stopped working and they said it wasn't bent but had been flexed.  The second time the cellular antenna stopped working and they claimed it was bent despite it being perfectly table-top tested flat and charged me $350 for an out of warranty replacement.

Now I paid it because it's a large phone and frame and prone to bending due to physics.  But i will never in my life by a phone that size again for this reason.  not from Apple or anyone.  If Apple can't make it last more than a year between replacements then no one can.

  • iOS 11.3 upgrade fatal for some repaired iPhone 8 screens done by third-party shops

Welcome your “right to repair”. Consequently, Apple should be taken to court for not taking sufficiently all “updates” imaginable that cheap third party repairers put into the phones and iPads....
    scnr.
The sooner that tech companies are forced to make materials and parts available for 3rd party the better.  Can you imagine if you had to go to the dealership to get every last thing for your car?  Auto companies could claim the same thing, that only their genuine parts can keep your auto running.  While they are correct, people have the CHOICE to go to an aftermarket option.  Some aftermarket stuff voids a warranty (if I replace certain engine parts) while others aren't (I can use any oil and filter from any brand).  Tech should be the same way.  Sure things will work better with the right parts done by the right people, but not everyone wants that cost or has time to deal with that.

So as an adult I should be able to accept that risk and be able to work on my own fully owned products or pay whomever I like to fix them.

  • Amazon acquires smart doorbell manufacturer Ring, HomeKit still on the way [u]

Complete a**holes. Kept promising homekit support "at the end of the year" for over two years. I bought a doorbell and some floodlight cams (both battery powered), now they say that homekit is coming, but only for a couple non-battery powered devices? Pretty sleazy. And now bought out by a company I have no trust in. Disappointing.
There is a story out there that a Ring Exec was asked at CES this year and they said they are able to turn on HomeKit right now, but won't because there is a disagreement with Apple about something stupid like where the alert originates or is delivered. Ring doesn't want to abide by Apples rules, so the consumer loses. I had just purchased when I read that and thought about ripping it out and returning it. But even without homekit it still really is a good device.
