  • How to use Apple's new Reminders app in iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and macOS Catalina

Ever since going to iOS 13, Reminders has failed to sync with iCloud, let alone any other Apple devices in my family with which I shared those lists. Indeed, I couldn’t even open Reminders on iCloud for multiple days due to server errors (according to the error pop up). 13.1 didn’t fix it either. Getting everyone onto 13.1 still didn’t fix it either. Reluctantly upgrading to the new format after everything else failed neither worsened nor improved the situation. I have one device with a working copy of my Reminders and am unable to share those lists anywhere. 13.1.1 also offered no improvement.

  • Don't update to iOS 13 just yet -- wait for iOS 13.1

In my family, I'm tasked with compatibility testing (I still remember when it took 6 months for a developer to fix one of my daughter's favorite games and I was blamed for it breaking) before any upgrades, so I had little choice but to test it. iCloud syncing of Reminders is a train wreck on my personal iPhone. Fortunately, I set up family sharing of those reminders to my work iPhone, so I can still get at the proper set of Reminders. If you do not have to be on iOS 13.0, I wholeheartedly agree with the crux of this article. Wait.

  • First look: Mac Pro and Apple Pro Display XDR [u]

I’m waiting to see what color calibration options will exist for the new display. If color calibration turns out to be solid, I can see a number of these replacing Sony broadcast monitors in our Graphics group, and possibly on some of our Avids.

  • Hundreds of iOS apps leaking data due to misconfigured Firebase backends, report says

Where can I obtain a copy of the list of impacted apps? I saw that the list exists; but did not see the list or any link to it.

I get a popup in the Mac app saying "The map server is not available". I dare say it'll be fixed shortly. Good job I don't need to go anywhere though!
I have Apple Maps and Google Maps installed just in case either fails.
Note that there's an offline option for Google Maps so that it would still be available for navigation even if a server and/or cell-service aren't. Good to have in case it's needed.
Truthfully, that is a feature I would like Apple to add at some point. I set that up for places I was traveling to, in case cell coverage was poor or there were similar issues.
