  • Intel's Alder Lake chips are very powerful, and that's good for the entire industry

That chart (and claim) is based on a single metric from a dozen benchmarks as part of the SPECrate 2017 tests. Need to wait and see about real world tests.

Let’s also not forget, the M1 CPU cores are almost 18 months old now. Intel would be severely embarrassed if they didn’t have ANYTHING to show.

One last note, when your “mobile” CPU performance drops by 55% when the device is not plugged in… you basically failed.

  • New MacBook Air predicted to have 'marginally faster' Apple Silicon M2 processor

My concern with resurrecting the MacBook name is the possibility of it only offering USB-C, without Thunderbolt, as was the case with the prior model. The current Air, ought not to be succeeded by a model that drops Thunderbolt.

Not sure why you would think that? All M1’s have Thunderbolt controllers on the SoC so why wouldn’t they do the same for the M2?

For those that have a hard time comprehending this - companies like Apple make hardware and also sell services. All this bill is doing is saying there has to be a modicum of separation between the two. It's not saying they can't offer their service, it's just saying they have to give other services an equal opportunity. Not sure what's so bad about that.
It's not hard to comprehend, but still begs the question, Why?

Why is it Apple's (or anyone else's) responsibility to allow equal access to their platform?
It's up to others to build a better mousetrap.
That said, Apple already offers other competing services. I can also get Music apps from Amazon, SiriusXM, Spotify, iHeart and several others.
In addition, I can easily get video content apps from Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Paramount, Peacock and many more.

It's up to all of them to promote their worth and value to consumers, not Apple.

It’s called a monopoly. The government has a long history of antitrust regulation, and the consumer benefits of strong competition are well known. (This isn’t just about Apple, either.)

It’s hard for another company to prove their worth and value if they never have a chance.

In what market is Apple a monopoly?

This is human stupidity at its finest.  The selfish, moronic, conspiracy-loving anti-vaxxers are putting people's live at risk.  They are just too stupid and ignorant to accept it.  I'm all for personal choice and keeping the government out of my body, but what's it going to take to get these people to understand that COVID is here to stay until they get vaccinated?!

One can only hope that Darwin will take care of things, but even then... that's years down the road.
The vaccine does not stop you from spreading or getting covid.  It does lessen the effects if you get it.  So I fail to see how someone  who has concerns about the covid vaccines and is not vaccinated is any more at fault for the spread.

Repeat:  The vaccine does not prevent the spread of covid.  It does lessen symptoms once you get it.

     (Yes I am vaccinated).

The chances of spreading the virus and getting sick don't just "lessen", they drop dramatically. If the virus cannot propagate in your body, the less chance there is of you passing it along to someone else before your own immune system can catch and neutralize it. Sure there is a slight chance you could potentially pass it along, but it's rather slim - nothing is 100% effective.

  • Intel looking to 'avoid fighting' with Apple for TSMC's 3nm chip production

    Picture you're TSMC.

...Now, along comes this new Johnny-Come-Lately with a fist full of dollars and wants you to produce their CPUs while they're upgrading their own fab to more modern standards...

Pretty sure Apple's fists are bigger and holding a lot more money.
