  • Defining the Pro in Apple Vision Pro: Who is Apple's target professional?

Mike Wuerthele said: Apple Vision Pro can't do three monitors, nor two phones.
Native apps can do three monitors/screens. And the AVP isn't running on a Snapdragon mobile processor. There are TONS of pro apps that can run on an M2 with 16GB unified memory and have the multi screen experience. So it's less about the AVP capabilities and more about the time/economics involved in making native apps.

  • Apple has built a new generative AI tool for animating images

gatorguy said: Generative AI is focused on generating new data.
LOL...generative AI is basically like No Man's Sky. It can "create" based on making variations of what already exists in a database/library of material. It's not actually doing anything "new". Everyone who plays that game is going to see the same types of variations because it's entirely dependent on the database that comes with the game. That's why the creators of things like ChatGPT insist that copyrighted material is a requirement for the program to work. If they used public domain material the output would look like...public domain material, i.e., not as good as copyrighted material OR out of date in terms of its style.

  • Unsurprisingly, Mark Zuckerberg believes Meta Quest 3 is the 'better product, period'

avon b7 said: The same applies to Tim Cook with, for example, the AI references.
"AI" isn't hard to do. That's why the market is being flooded with "AI" products.

  • Jon Stewart became a problem for Apple TV+

I don’t find the China and/or AI pitches rumor convincing. Cancellation over segments like that would not have been amicable, as such stories would be journalism. I believe Stewart is hinting at the real problem when he mentions the “election season” — this cancellation was about US political commentary. Stewart is not going to sit this one out. He made that mistake eight years ago, and he’s not going to repeat it. He’s not alone.
His recent segment on Trump/Biden was just standard media both-siderism. Both-siderism is a technique that is intended to create apathy in the electorate. Apathy = lower voter turnout = increased chances for Republican wins. So maybe Stewart is really a No Labels kind of guy? Meaning a conservative that doesn't want to openly identify as a conservative? At any rate, both-siderism is never in short supply in the U.S. media so if that's what Stewart wants to do for political coverage it's just more of the same.

  • Apple Vision Pro crams 50 pixels into the area of one iPhone 15 pixel

"Regarding Apple's claim that there are 23 million pixels across the two displays in an Apple Vision Pro, iFixit says no."

That's an error. iFixit actually confirms that there are approximately 23 million pixels. See quote from article below:

"Compare that to the total area of around 660 mm2, and we see that the corners cut off 5.3% of the total, leaving 11,437,866 visible pixels per panel. Counting both panels and a margin of error on our side, that’s the 23,000,000 pixels Apple claims."
