  • Apple's online store could be more expensive for UK customers in the future

By all means tax deliveries... if they are made using Petrol/Diesel engined vehicles. That would spur the companies making the last mile deliveries to move to Electric Vehicles. Then the government can put another nail in the coffin of 'Big Oil' and Fossil Fuels. At the time I'm writing this post, almost 50% of the UK Power requirements is coming from Renewable sources (Solar, Wind, Hydro)

  • New 'EvilQuest' ransomware is actively targeting macOS users in the wild

Problem is a lot of times the backups are hosed long before you even notice you were infected. Unless you have multiple Time Machine drives you rotate through I think you're still hosed.

I don't have the time to research at the moment, but does iCloud Drive provide any ransomware protection?
That's why I use (and recommend) a 'Rotating Tower of Hanoi' structure for backup media. This goes back to the days of 2400ft Tape Reels.
It applies just as much today as it did in the 1980's.
I can go to the Fire Safe in my Garage and get a full Time Machine backup from January 2020 or December 2019 and other dates inbetween.

  • Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky calls Apple Silicon strategy 'fearless'

Apple is also different to most other companies on the planet in that they are big enough not to have to pander to the short termism of Wall St. As Sinofski says, they think long term and have the guts to carry it out. Far too many CEO's are scared of a 5% drop in their stock price because they failed to meet some analyists precition which probably came from thin air.

Apple isn't perfect but their track record of producing stuff that people want and works well is pretty good.

  • Apple's shift to ARM Mac at WWDC will define a decade of computing

While a new ARM-based MacBook is logical, I would think it would also reinforce the expectation that %desktopOS%-on-ARM = slow. Apple’s confidence in ARM would be clearer if they put it in a MacBook Air, which we already know is a capable machine.

Either way, I would replace my 2015 and 2017 MacBooks with an ARM-based model if they ditched the butterfly keyboard in them. If this comes to fruition this year I will find it a very fascinating time, indeed.
anyone who has used a Raspberry Pi 4 with a Linux Desktop can testify how fast it can be and that is from booting of a slow micro SD card.
I would imagine that Apple's ARM with its own GPU is a lot faster. I think a lot of people might well be surprised at how responsive MacOS on ARM is.

  • Apple Retail stores will look very different in the US when they reopen

I'm not sure Americans can stand 2 meters apart.  All the confusing metric stuff and all.  Hopefully they'll translate that into English for us.

"Please stand 6.6 feet apart."  But then people will complain about those extra 6.75"  /s
    Don't you mean...

Hopefully they'll translate that into American for us.
Over here in the UK, we went metric for most measurements including small distances around 1970. The odd exception is made for things like miles and mph rather than kilometres and kph.
