European Parliament votes to facilitate consumer right to repair
genovelle said:Will the UK handle the deaths from batteries and calls from consumers who brick their devices prematurely by calling themselves repairing them. This will run quite a few companies out of business as few of them can afford to take on this additional expense in the none Apple world because they are already loosing money on these devices. -
Windows on Apple Silicon is up to Microsoft, says Craig Federighi

Customers buy MACS and load which ever OS they need for certain applications to run and switch around.
Blathering nonsense. Utter baloney. Bull excrement. The vast, vast majority, almost the totality of customers buy Macs to run macOS, period, end of story. It only seems your way because of tech blogs and the posers that pontificate on them.
If the ASi Macs won’t run Windows or Linux it won’t affect sales one scintilla. And after the transition there will be no such thing as a Hackintosh either. -
Apple, Facebook & Google - How California's new privacy measures apply
"It also will create a standalone agency with a $10 million budget tasked with enforcing California privacy laws, and also enables district attorneys from county and state governments to get involved. Currently, the task of privacy regulation enforcement is left up to the state's attorney general's office, which has said that it can only handle a few cases per year.”
Bottom line? Yet another government bureaucracy established to suck money out of taxpayers. In reading this article I don’t see all that much change.
"Proposition 24 also adds more specific protections for certain sensitive data, allowing users to tell businesses not to use information categories like race, genetic information, sexual orientation, and geographic location."
And what kind of business, other than medical, would possess race, genetic, sexual orientation data? -
Epic Games vs Apple -- The continuing App Store saga
sflocal said:What is conveniently ignored is that for many commercial businesses, landlords also stipulate rent is not only a monthly amount, but also a percentage of sales. Epic has it easy compared to others. I hope Epic fails hard.
I see no difference in what Apple does with the App Store and what every other commercial landlord has been doing forever. Epic knows full well that they will make more money within the App Store than having their own store outside it. They want their cake and to eat it too.
