  • Why Thread is a game-changer for Apple's HomeKit

Excellent news, one day soon HomeKit devices will truly be Plug and Play, finally.  Actually, just Play, no Plug, in many cases.  Glad I’ve resisted the urge to plunge into any home automation, including HomeKit, knowing that it should be easier and better.
Other than not really having the cash for this stuff either, I’m right there with you. I’ve been keeping an eye on this stuff for years, but having to have some kind of hub and this company has these things and the other company has those things and where am I gonna stash all these boulders of hubs, NNAAAAAAHHHH.

Very much liking the sound of this hubless future, or if I do have to have one, making it a home pod or two. At least they’re useful and look nice.

Being able to detect and discover any nearby AirTag might mitigate this somewhat.

How would that not mitigate surveillance completely?

My daughters 2010 MacBook Pro works great with Catelina, no reason to think you would have any issue with Big Sur on your iMac.

Three years from now Adobe will have their products ready. /s
    LoL yep exactly!

This is good news for me! I moved away from Adobe’s subscription model and been using Affinity Designer and Photo.
I quit using Adobe products years ago but they’re still the de facto publishing/presentation software for businesses and corporations. It’s like Microsoft products being so ingrained both will be hard to replace. But, we can keep supporting alternatives.
I recently made the switch to Affinity a few months ago and haven’t looked back. You’re correct about Adobe’s entrenchment; it is pretty much insurmountable. As long as we can keep them around that’s about all we can hope for.
