ROFL, this is EXACTLY the image the article evoked in my mind, too.   "We've got you now, Apple, and you will pay us ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS!  Bwaa-haaa-haaa!!!"

WTF is a "flagship device"?  AI needs to get away from this kind of jargony industry gobbledegook.

I'm just glad Apple is able to sell iPhones in China.  With time, perhaps more of that sixth of the world's population will learn to appreciate quality instad of price alone.  No reason at all that Apple should sell product in China at a lower margin than elsewhere in the world. Certainly no reason to distribute the iPhone at zero profit, as do the other companies with their products.

You get what you pay for.

Exactly right. All the bile being vented over CR is really misplaced.  CR used the same testing parameters on multiple brands, and Apple alone failed. That's good science.  Apple found that the failure was due to "an obscure bug", and they fixed it.  Now CR is being responsible and cooperative by re-testing the Apple product(s) and giving a passing score.  Bravo!  Rather than pretend the bug didn't exist and point fingers, let's be happy that everything has worked out.

Just because the average user might not have encountered the bug doesn't mean it didn't exist.  And CR found it.  GREAT!  Apple should have found it first.
