I underestimated the benefit of the AirPods letting in outside noise.That makes them ideal to use while walking or cycling around. It feels like you are outside with music in the background, which combined with the automatic pausing and the portability is a truly unique experience. Something I never would have expected.
Having said that, in the London tube you need earphones that seal off the overwhelming rattling and screeching so Apple will likely sell both to a lot of commuters in this wonderful but derelict town.

Not sure if this is of good quality, you should have waited until you have one in hand and tested it yourself. This is just an ad. 

Still, a single place to charge all three devices that we use daily and continuously would be a great product to have.

They look awesome on ear. They will probably have that rich Beats sound (without being overly crazy on the bass). And the in ear cups keep out outside sounds away (which is necessary on the London tube which is louder than an F-15 at take off). Love them already....

Target market: 45+. The "long game" better not take too long....
