Whatever Apple needed to do to supplant Imagination technology in iPhone was likely initiated a couple of years ago, if not sooner.  These things take time. 

Apple is developing a critical mass in health and medical talent, providing resources to them and pointing them at critical issues which personal-mobile technology might be able to address. That's the road to success, though we will have to wait for results before celebrating. What a great company.
