  • Apple's apology for small amount of 2018 MacBook Pro keyboard failures still isn't enough

Joanna Stern has cried wolf about so much nonsense over the years, from her time at pro-troll site Verge, to her silly complaints at WSJ. Won't take her as a single source on anything.

Here's Gruber politely saying Stern is full of shit over her recommendation to tape your Mac's webcam to protect it from hackers:

    1.    This is why Cook is increasing AppleCare to deal with keyboard problems

    2.    Looks like Apple has not infected their biggest seller MacBookAir with the problem keyboard.

    3.    I guess you will be cheering when DED does a hit piece on Joanna Stern.   I hope her article is included in the WSJ when you sign up for Apple News+.

  • Hands on and benchmark testing of Apple's 2019 iMac 4K

It’s sad to see Apple not putting SSDs or Fusion drives on these things as standard. Please those who are annoyed by this please send apple feedback & be respectful. I mean even the $800 Mac Mini now has NVMe SSD standard.

We'll be talking more about this later. Just because something isn't right for you, or for a good portion of the AppleInsider devout, doesn't mean that it's wrong for the vast majority of the intended market.
This isn't nearly as bad as the crappy butterfly keyboards in the laptops.   And I'm sorry but Joanna Stern's article in the WSJ is one of the the best I ever rreead.  I hope everyone on Apple News+ gets to read it, but Positive DED will attack her.   Yes something has changed at Apple (even though they still make a LOT of great products-must resist AirPods).

  • Apple's 2019 iPad Air, iPad mini support Logitech's Crayon stylus [u]

Kind of obvious, really. The Crayon is based around the old Pencil specs, with a couple of features removed, so if it supports the Pencil 1.0, it should support the Crayon.

What doesn't make sense is that the Pencil 1.0 and 2.0 have no cross-compatibility. Admittedly charging the Pencil 2.0 on older iPads that don't have the magnets in place could be tricky, but the fact the 1.0 doesn't work with the new iPads Pro is annoying.

True it is annoying, but it does make sense — the technologies work differently. The advantages of new pencil is better, but it means breaking compatibility with old pencil. If we know anything about Apple, it’s that they’re not going to let legacy prevent them from improving next-gen. But in the interest of keeping the lower-tier offerings less expensive, it meant going with previous gen rather than next-gen.

Same with Touch ID vs Face ID.

I imagine it will trickle down across the line over time, like all things.
iPads are great tools but adding in the cost of a new pencil just causes me to wait on any upgrade.  Why can’t the new Pros work with the old pencil.   2 years is hardly legacy.

  • Maxell sues Apple over navigation, camera & data tech patents

Company like IBM file largest number of patents every year even though many of them have directly nothing to do with products being developed.  Why ? Same reason. No one can sue you and you sue if someone violate and give leverage for cross licensing.
Apple will have to buy patents portfolios, cross license, file left and right patents, etc to protect itself from future law suits.
Supposedly this was one of the reasons that Google bought Motorola.   For its patent portfolio.   It begs the question is the same offending tech in Samsung and other Android phones and is Maxwell also sueing them?

  • Disney+ streaming service to offer entire Disney movie catalog, including 'Disney Vault' t...

It's like they've been planning it for years with their purchase of Studio Ghibli, Marvel, Star Wars, Fox etc.

I wish Apple would acquire some studios.
I can see tons of families getting this.  As a single adult male I’ve very few of the Apple content seems appealing.   It all sounds very “Safe” in a family sense.   Hopefully they will have somethings on par with West World or Game of Throwns to lure subscribers in.   I got HBO just because of GOT.
