iPhone 12 Pro Max battery smaller than iPhone 11 Pro Max, according to regulatory filing
tomasulu said:Meanwhile Android phones have 4500mah so they can do 5g AND 120hz screen. I just don’t get apple’s priority sometimes.I use an 11 Pro max daily since launch and the battery life is outstanding, but it's heavy as hell IMHO. 12 Pro max is getting even a bit heavier. At this weight cramming a big ol 5000mah battery in it will give people wrist problems! Haha The answer isn't a bigger battery..Apple shows this by getting the same (claimed ) battery life out of a smaller battery in the 12 Pro Max.
Yes android phones "do' 5g and 120hz but battery life suffers even with those huge batteries. It also creates way more heat during use.. We have seen batteries have issues with heat in the past.. I don't want anything like that going on with my iPhone! I would love 120hz as well I have used an iPad pro 10.5in and currently a 2020 11in. It's so smooth and the pencil response is amazing. I just don't want it if I have to settle on less battery life, which I think Apple is trying to avoid with iPhone. This is from Samsung's website..You may notice that your phone's battery drains faster than usual while you are connected to a 5G network. This is a limitation of the current 5G networks, and will be improved as the networks expand.Because your phone is connected to multiple networks simultaneously, the battery will drain faster than one would typically expect, and the phone may get warmer than when solely on 3G or LTE.Does 120hz drain battery?120Hz screen will consume a lot of battery juice, but you shouldn't even worry about it. The S20 Ultra with the screen set at the default 60Hz lasted nearly 12 hours in Tom's Guide test, while the 120Hz S20 Ultra died after nine hours and 13 minutes.

However, while this phone offers a lot of endurance with the display in 60Hz mode, using the 120Hz refresh rate on the Galaxy S20 ultra's screen take a huge toll on battery life.

DOJ files antitrust lawsuit against Google's search business
blastdoor said:indieshack said:Lord help us if this action forces Apple to use BingMore likely it would force Apple to offer users a choice of default search browser when setting up a phone.. Of course, everyone will then choose Google anyway.
the irony is that this could be great for Google. Most iOS users will still pick them but now they don’t have to pay Apple anything. You don't have to use Google as your default search? I use Duck Duck Go on all of my devices? Yes it is preset with Google, but settings-safari-search engine allows that to be changed easily? Unless I misunderstood what you meant by offering users a choice of default?I do agree however most people will just got to google.com and search anyway. Even with Duck Duck go.. I sometimes have to still give in and use Google because I simply can't find what I am looking for.

Apple reduces price of accessories not included in iPhone 12 box
GeorgeBMac said:seankill said:Effectively Apple increased the price of a complete new iPhone by $19. Don't think they are doing you any favors. Sure I have bricks but they are all just 5W.......Plus, those old chargers only accept an older USB-A cable -- so they are completely obsolete. Apple should have been replacing them way, way back when they released the iPhone 8!Many customers will be shocked to open the box when find that not only is there no new charger to go with the upgraded, fast charging phone, but the cable Apple so kindly "gave them" won't work without them spending an extra $19 on a new charger. Many, maybe most customers will rightly consider that a "shake down" by a company they had always before been able to trust.Any older lightning cable and charger will work with this year's iPhones. So existing customers won't need to buy anything actually. People will be more pissed that the USB-C cable doesn't fit their old charging bricks. Go to Amazon and look at the comments for the Airpods pro.. People saw a USB-C to lightning cable in the box and thought that they couldn't charge their headphones and Apple ripped them off and was forcing them to buy a new charger! Not realizing that USB-A to lightning still works.. and wireless is also an option.New customers will feel this change the most.. if they hadn't been using a USB-C charger previously.

Chinese video platforms reportedly axe Apple's 'Hi, Speed' livestream
sflocal said:tommikele said:JWSC said:That’s it China. Just keep going. Just keep giving Apple more reasons to diversify manufacturing out of your country. The sooner, the better. And good riddance.
The Chinese are the ones who are in a position to say good riddance to Apple and not the other way around as you claim.
You don't know too much about business, do you?
I'd LOVE to see China do that, if anything just for the entertainment value and watch an exodus of companies divesting out of China. What IS happening is China is going through a slow bleed of job losses. Apple is slowly moving production out of China to places like India, Vietnam, etc... for every new factory opened up outside of China, it's less workers needed in China. Good. Other companies are doing exactly that too. It's slow, but it is happening.Apple may not completely be get out from China's claws, but China needs non-China business to thrive in China if it knows what's good for it in the long term.If there were any choice of picking my next iPhone made anywhere but China, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I don't have a problem with the Chinese people. I just hate the Chinese government and the less of my money goes to china, the better.

Apple launches iPhone 12 Pro line with new design, better cameras, LiDAR
dicebier1 said:chemengin1 said:Most underwhelming phone ever announced.
Bottom line - Apple needs to keep secrets like the old days, start REALLY innovating rather than these snowflake upgrades, and most importantly - get the excitement going again!
I have a iPhone XS MAX, skipped the 11, and now I'm skipping the 12.
Mass market will be like "no charging block?" "still a lightning connector?"
Another year of mild evolution...... I'll put my XS MAX against all this new stuff and come away happy and not regretting a thing.
Watch - They'll be giving these away to get you to sign up for unlimitedI will agree however that allowing this much info to “leak” every year takes almost all of the excitement out of the keynotes.
