  • IRS suing Facebook for $9B in unpaid taxes

We're now running a $trillion deficit and part of the reason is because of huge corporations who pay no or little federal income taxes.

But most of the reason is that federal spending jumped 30% or so in 2008, due to that year's bailouts, economic stimulus, and such, and became the new normal.  Tax revenue has set several new all-time highs in the last decade, while at the same time also setting records for deficit spending.  The house, senate, and presidency have changed hands a couple of times during all that, so both parties have been equally irresponsible.
True..  but corps paying their fair share of taxes would hugely offset our deficit.

  • HQ Trivia app closes down, ends with drunken presenters asking for jobs

Guess harvesting user personal data for profit is best left to the experts.
Was this the case with the HQ app? I heard some negative things about it, but it was just things like the app not working correctly?  Are we just assuming that was how they operated to make money since the app was free?  I played it a couple of times and never really understood how they functioned with the app being free.

  • Apple Maps vs Google Maps - smartphone mapping titans battle it out in 2020

I'm glad that Apple is improving, and I think some day they might get there, but every time I try using Apple Maps, something is wrong. The store is about half a block away on a good trip, several miles away on a bad trip. I would vastly prefer to use Apple Maps for the privacy, and I could live with the lower detail and a couple months out of date information, but it leads me to the wrong place way too often, even a couple years after the restaurant or business opened. This is in Minneapolis, MN, which would seem to be a big enough city to have some accuracy.

This is how I feel about Google maps in my area. We out just yesterday morning looking for a little care dealership that had recently moved. Google maps was connected the listing as default for directions so we used it. It was her iPhone as well as I don't have GM installed on my device. We ended up on a different street at a private residence? she tried to just search by name of the car lot and no results were coming back and the address provided was not the residence that GM was taking us too.

I stopped the care and searched by name on my phone using AM.. we made it to the place in a couple of mins without issue.

In the past I have had issues like this using AM in my area, and Google was able to get me sorted out, This isn't the case so much anymore at least for me and places I am trying to get to. I am in Pennsylvania just for reference..

Specs in the "Processor" category are significantly different with Apple having a huge lead, but spec-to-spec comparisons are often misleading since they don't show the whole picture or are hard to quantify with a single number or spec.  There are legitimate reasons to choose Android, but technology-wise it is hard to compete with Apple's control of the whole stack.  For example iPhones are much more efficient with their RAM use due to no garbage collection overhead, more efficient resource utilization in background processes, and more efficient at offloading inactive memory to SSD.   You can basically double the iPhone RAM specs for the sake of comparison with Android.  Apple's processor is significantly more advanced than anything offered by Qualcomm putting it in a league of its own.   Apple's battery chemistry is very good, but there is no specification to show that.  Apple could easily match RAM or battery size specs, but it chooses not to because it doesn't matter.  Android generally gets earlier access to commodity tech like the latest cellular chips due to release cycle differences.  You are also comparing last years iPhone with this years Samsung phone.  I don't know enough to compare the large camera MP difference when not using binning (although Apple seems better in the typical case 12MP vs 10MP), but I assume that is due to the huge camera array on the Samsung.  I'm not sure if that tradeoff makes sense for an iPhone, but I'm sure it will attract someone to the S20 Ultra.
"Apple could easily match RAM or battery size specs, but it chooses not to because it doesn't matter".   Well,  not sure I'm buying into that statement about batteries.  I would take a 4500 or 5000 Milli amp hour battery over a 4000 or lower battery every time.  It's tiring to see Apple behind in this area.   I agree with Georgebmac's comments about iOS and applications being so compelling to use iPhones, totally agree.
I use my Pro Max 2 days on a charge with juice left at the end of the 2nd day? What area besides actual battery size are they behind in?

  • How to cancel your Apple Music subscription

Yeh, they hide it pretty well...
But I got used to doing it as my grandson (on my Family Plan) kept opening new subscriptions -- mostly just to try them.

But, if I ever cancelled his Apple Music there would be hell to pay.  He loves it.   So do I.  I can't remember the last time I listened to a CD or the radio.
...  I just wish that I could start Apple Music on my phone from my Apple Watch.  It's cumbersome to have to fish my phone out of my pocket & start it up.   Apple Watch has me so spoiled!

I am not sure which AW you are using.. but you have the choice to to play what is on the Apple watch or iPhone.  If you tap the music on the watch it gives you a choice of what is playing on Apple Watch or iPhone. If you tap " On iPhone" you can scroll and choose ( Playlists, Artists, Albums, songs ) start playing a song and it will show on your iphone and watch as the track that is playing. Hopefully I explained that clearly... B)

I just tried it with my Series 5 watch.. I had been listening to an audiobook  and switched to AM using the steps I described.

Took me a bit to figure out as I was coming from an original AW that wasn't able to update to the newest WatchOS.
