  • How to export your Apple Card monthly transactions

This is good news for some folks here at AI.  I remember seeing comments of people upset that they were not able to export their Apple Card data into Quicken and the like. I really like this card.. just wish it would match the cash back % of some other cards. I would like to make this my only card, but the cashback isn't there yet. Hopefully that will change as the service matures.

  • Apple hasn't abandoned Touch ID in flagship iPhones yet

Touch ID will never be as convenient as Face ID.....Face ID takes zero effort......Touch ID not so much...looks like I'll be holding on to my 11 Pro for a while.
Face ID will never be as convenient as TouchID. Touch ID takes zero effort when you are wearing protective headgear eg Crash helmets.

Each of us has their own use case and will find that one or the other is the best. Having to take my crash helmet off just to use Face ID is just not  practical.
I also don’t think the majority of Face ID users are using them with crash helmets either.   I have no problems with a hat, beard no beard or reflective sunglasses using Touch ID. However on my iPad Pro 10.5 it’s often takes me a couple or tries to get it to open with Touch ID. I have my index and thumbs on both hands set up. It frequently doesn’t take my index fingers. It also doesn’t like the slightest bit of moisture on my hands either. These are things that simply don’t happen with Fade Id. At least for me.

I would def like the option of having both as in the case of being off angle and Face ID won’t open or just as a secondary option. That would be a nice addition. I just don’t agree that with the majority of use cases that Face ID isn’t practical as you stated.

  • AirPods Pro firmware update sacrifices noise cancellation quality for bass

I wasn’t happy with the sound quality of the AirPod Pros I got for Christmas. In addition, they gave me a severe allergic reaction which made the insides of my ears itchy throughout the holidays which was awful!

I felt the same way as you when I got my pro's for Christmas. I thought the bass was very thin and highs piercing and fatiguing at higher volumes. I played with different tips and also reset them and re-paired them to my 11 Pro Max. After the reset they initially sounded better but quickly went back to how they were..thin with not very much bass and the almost piercing highs. I told Santa ( my GF B) ) that I thought something wasn't right with them, but maybe this is how the are supposed to sound and if that is the case I wasn't liking it.  I had read and watched reviews saying that the sound quality was not overly bass heavy and very balanced, but I just wasn't hearing that..

Fast forward to last Monday 01/06 I was using them at work and they would go from sounding ok on one song and then as I described on the next. So I decided to do the apple seal test on the phone to see if that may be why there is a fluctuation in sound. At this point I had only done the test initially on Christmas morning and they passed. I was using a small on the left and a medium on the right ear as this is what I had done with other IEM over the years because my ear canals aren't quite the same size.

So I did the test and it failed.. telling me to adjust or use another tip.  I tried 4 more times at work and still all failed results. I went home later and tried all of the provided tips and still fail, fail, fail..  I made a genius appointment that evening to get some to look at them.

At the Apple store they had me pair a test pair they brought with my phone and BOOM the sound was night and day different. Clear, crisp with a very nice bass response, but not overpowering. I tried my Christmas pair with a test iPhone they provided and the tech saw the fit test fail multiple times on this phone as well as the sound still being weak in bass and way too harsh with the highs..

So they swapped my original pair out with a new set and I couldn't be happier! It's a shame about the allergic reaction because I believe you may have a faulty pair and a swap out may have fixed your sound quality issue.

  • Rumor: Apple developing 'iPhone SE 2' variant with Face ID, 5.4-inch screen

The actual 5.4 inch iPhone 12 should be smaller in physical size than the iPhone 8, and just a bit larger than the (old) iPhone SE. That should satisfy the small phone crowd. The entry level iPhone Classic is simply to offer a decent phone at the $399 price point. There are plenty of folks who will find that attractive.

So you think Apple will design a brand new phone because the size you mention doesn't exist, and still charge $399.00?

Using an older chassis ( SE was the same size as the 5 & 5s ) design is what made the SE possible at the price point. If you recall the SE had the same camera and processor as the 6s which was the flagship at that time. Using an existing design was the trade off to allow them to offer the SE at the low price.

  • The FBI has the tools it needs to break into the iPhone, and shouldn't ask for backdoors

I'm in the minority but I don't see an issue with tech companies working with law enforcement. Guardrails need to be in place and enforced like everything else but if there are situations where unlocking the phones means putting a serial pedophile in jail or preventing more people from being killed then tech companies should be willing partner with law enforcement. By forcing law enforcement to 3rd parties you're only increasing the likelihood of abusing the ability to access locked devices.

Has Apple ever been unwilling to work with law enforcement? Creating and giving the government a permanent backdoor is not working with them. I am not sure you are seeing this for what it really is.
