How the technology behind Apple's Touch ID will likely change with 'iPhone 8'
If were to have to delay the iPhone 8 in order to perfect its fingerprint technology, I don't think it would be the end of the world for the company, and in fact might benefit them in the long term. Sure, in the short term the company would take a PR and stock price hit, but IF they follow this up by producing an amazing phone with a working front-facing, underscreen fingerprint sensor then they will gain the reputation of the company that doesn't just rush a product to market to meet an arbitrary deadline set by Wall Street. Instead it would cement their reputation of the company that takes the time to get things right and makes an uncompromised product. And this would help validate the reason why Apple charges a premium for its products. -

Apple declares second-gen Apple TV 'obsolete,' halts most hardware support
macxpress said:The current gen AppleTV might as well be vintage too. It really doesn't do anything the old ones don't. Its just a little large with a faster CPU in it that Apple chooses to not even make 4K. Oh, and supports and App Store...wow! -
Which internet-only TV service should Apple device owners use?
I got the special offer for 3 months of DirecTV with Apple TV 4 included. It works fine, with just an occasional stutter in a stream. I have a FIOS 150/150 connection so that might help. But as one of the other posters alluded to above, I just can't go back to watching TV like this. I cut the cord back in 2010 and trying to go back to watching TV like this is painful and weird. My kids who have mostly been brought up with streaming only services don't get it at all. I still have three weeks left on the 3 month trial but we haven't used the service in weeks and I suspect will not again before the subscription ends. (And, yes, I have already canceled.) But we did get an ATV4 out of the deal for cheaper than it would have cost to buy it. -
DirecTV Now breaks 200,000 subscribers in problematic first month of service
I cut the cord back in 2010 and never looked back. But since I was in the market for a second Apple TV 4 anyway, I figured I would give this a try. The service actually works pretty well for me. No severe problems, just occasional slight stuttering during the streams. I have a very good internet service (Frontier FIOS 150/150) so I don't know if that helps. Overall it works as advertised and expected. However, I am still dropping the service after the 3-month trial. I just can't go back to watching TV like this. Channels, timeslots, commercials... And I don't really care if they introduce a DVR feature later or not. I don't want to have to set up a DVR to "record" shows.
